The Jeep Wrangler has long been an icon for off-road enthusiasts, and the 2025 update builds on that legacy with thoughtful upgrades. While the exterior changes are minimal, they’re functionally driven, like the revised grille and stronger Gorilla Glass windshield. Inside, the cabin is more tech-loaded with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, waterproof materials, and powered front seats. Mechanically, it retains its proven 4×4 hardware, but gains refinements like the new Dana HD44 axle and Off-Road+ mode. Ride quality and refinement have also improved, making it more usable in everyday scenarios without losing its trail-ready toughness. This is our detailed drive review of the 2025 Jeep Wrangler.
2025 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon stays true to its iconic design, with very subtle changes over its previous iteration. The seven-slat grille is blacked out and slightly wider for improved cooling. New 17-inch alloy wheels with mud-terrain tyres are standard on the Rubicon, and the SUV retains its signature boxy shape with removable doors, roof, and windshield. Ground clearance has improved to 237mm, with increased approach, breakover, and departure angles, enhancing its off-road stance. Practical upgrades include Gorilla Glass for the windshield, an embedded antenna to avoid trail snags, and a front camera with a washer for better visibility off-road.

Inside, the cabin feels robust and purpose-built, boasting a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system that’s better integrated and much sharper in resolution. The dashboard gets a new waterproof polyurethane finish, along with added touches like action camera mounts for recording adventures. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and off-road-specific displays show vital info like pitch, roll, and transmission temperature. Powered front seats are a big comfort upgrade and fully waterproof, as are the switches and materials used. While still not plush, the Wrangler’s cabin is now better equipped, more tech-rich, and easier to live with on a daily basis.
Space inside the Wrangler remains functional but not luxurious. The front seats offer a commanding view and now come with powered adjustment that’s waterproof, adding convenience without compromising off-road resilience. The dashboard layout is familiar but updated with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen and waterproof polyurethane trim. Rear seat space is adequate for three adults, but the upright backrest and fixed recline angle limit long-distance comfort. Cabin access requires effort due to the high floor, and while materials are built to endure tough conditions, rear seat comfort isn’t ideal for daily commuting or highway touring.

So we drove the Wrangler in both on and off-road conditions, and it’s safe to say its good. It excels in off-road conditions with its capabilities and rugged hardware. It features long suspension travel, electronically disconnecting front sway bars, locking differentials, and a Rock Trac 4×4 system with a low 4:1 crawl ratio, all of which help it conquer steep inclines, rocky trails, and deep ruts with ease. Its 864mm water-wading capacity and massive mud-terrain tyres make river crossings and unpredictable surfaces feel effortless, while Off-road+ mode intelligently manages traction and throttle control.
Adding to its trail strength is the new Dana HD44 heavy-duty rear axle, improving durability and increasing towing capacity. The Rubicon variant also benefits from refined throttle mapping for more precise control in tricky scenarios. Features like a high-resolution front camera with washer, waterproof powered seats, off-road pages displaying pitch and roll angles, and integrated action camera mounts make it even more functional and engaging for serious adventurers.
On the road, the 2.0 L Turbo Petrol engine delivers 268 bhp, achieving 0-100 kmph in 8.1 seconds, offering enough punch for both city and highway driving. The 8 Speed automatic is smooth, though not particularly fast with downshifts. Road and wind noise are still present due to the off-road setup, but Jeep has improved overall refinement with laminated glass and better insulation. Ride quality is exceptional even on broken highways, and the light steering helps in urban use, though the large dimensions demand spatial awareness.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon continues to be a benchmark for off-road capability while becoming more liveable for daily use. With subtle yet purposeful exterior tweaks, upgraded interiors, and added tech, it balances ruggedness with modern convenience. Its 2.0L turbo-petrol engine offers enough grunt for highways and trails alike, and the heavy-duty Dana 44 axles enhance durability and off-road performance. Ride quality is surprisingly comfortable given its hardcore underpinnings, and features like powered waterproof seats, off-road pages, and an action camera mount add to its appeal. Rear seat comfort and cabin access remain compromises, but if serious off-roading is your priority with occasional city runs, the Wrangler Rubicon makes a strong case. It’s not perfect for everyone—but for adventurers, there’s still nothing quite like it.
