Renault, Kia, Honda and Hyundai are gearing up to disrupt India’s SUV market with all‑new hybrid models. These upcoming launches promise cutting‑edge fuel efficiency, lower emissions and seamless urban‑to‑highway performance. Each brand brings its global hybrid expertise tailored for Indian roads and customer expectations. From refined styling and advanced safety features to attractive ownership costs, these hybrid SUVs aim to win over eco‑aware and performance‑seeking buyers. India’s transition to electrified mobility is accelerating, and these models set the stage for a new era in affordable, premium hybrid driving experiences.

New-Gen Renault Duster

Expected Launch: Early 2026

One of the most anticipated launches is the return of the Renault Duster. Initially planned for 2025, the launch has now been pushed to 2026. The third-generation Duster, which debuted globally last year, will mark the revival of the iconic SUV in India after a four-year hiatus. Production is set to commence by September 2025, with the launch expected in early 2026. Renault will initially launch the SUV in just Petrol only, strong hybrids and CNG variant will be launched within 12 months. Expect the SUV to have features such as front ventilated seats, 10.1-inch Infotainment, ADAS, AWD, and much more

Powertrain options expected are:

  • 1.0 L Turbo Petrol – 99 BHP, 152 – 160 NM Torque – 5 Speed MT, CVT
  • 1.6 L Petrol Hybrid – 140 BHP, 148 Nm, Automatic; runs 80% on electric mode

New-Gen Kia Seltos

Kia will soon introduce the next-generation Seltos in India bringing in a whole lot of new design for both the exterior and the interior. It’ll get Kia Telluride [sold internationally] inspired design and interiors that will look similar to the Syros but will have new features such as heated seats, co-driver powered seat, 30-inch Trinity Panoramic display, rear ventilated seats and so much more. Kia is expected to debut the new-generation SUV by end of this year with launch sometime in 2026.

Powertrain Options:

  • 1.5 L Petrol Engine – 113 BHP, 144 NM Torque – 6 Speed MT / IVT
  • 1.5 L Diesel Engine – 114 BHP, 250 NM Torque – 6 Speed MT / IMT / AT
  • 1.5 L Turbo Petrol Engine – 158 BHP, 253 NM Torque – 6 Speed MT, 7 Speed DCT
  • 1.5 L Petrol Hybrid Option will be available too.

Honda ZR-V

Expected Launch: Late 2025 – Early 2026

The Honda ZR-V features a sleek, aerodynamic design with a unique front grille, horizontal LED headlamps, and L-shaped LED DRLs. Its sporty rear includes a steeply raked windshield, wraparound LED taillights, and dual exhaust tips. Inside, it boasts minimalistic dual-tone dashboard that houses a 9-inch infotainment, digital cluster, and raised center console with modern drive mode switches. Practical elements like a retractable parcel cover, load partition, and expandable boot capacity up to 1,291 liters enhance usability. If launched in India, it may arrive via the CKD route, with a hybrid powertrain adding to its appeal

  • A 2.0-litre petrol hybrid paired with an electric CVT and all-wheel drive (AWD), producing 179 BHP and 315 NM of torque. 

Hyundai’s New 7-Seater SUV

Expected Launch: 2027

Hyundai is developing an all-new 7-seater SUV codenamed Ni1i, this SUV will sit between the Alcazar and the Tucson in their SUV line-up. This SUV will come with Hybrid powertrain, most likely a 1.5 L Petrol Strong Hybrid which be the same Kia will introduce with new-generation Seltos. While this SUV will also rival the XUV700, and Safari; Hyundai will add some first-in segment features to stay ahead in competition.
