Tata Nexon EV got defeated in Adult Occupant Protection [AOP] with the Mahindra XUV400 EV just beating the SUV to be safest in the category!

Mahindra had sent the XUV400 EV for crash-testing at the Bharat NCAP along with the Thar Roxx and the XUV 3XO. The XUV400 EV is available in 2 battery packs – 34.5 kWh and 39.5 kWh with range 375 – 456 KM. Earlier the EV was updated with new features like dual 10.25-inch Displays – Infotainment and Digital Cluster, Wireless Charging Pad, etc. It became another Mahindra SUV to achieve 5 Stars Safety Rating at the Bharat NCAP. Mahindra XUV400 EV – Adult Occupant Protection [AOP]

The Mahindra XUV400 EV excelled in the Adult Occupant Protection evaluation, securing an impressive score of 30.38 out of 32 points. During the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the vehicle demonstrated good protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck. The chest protection for the driver was rated as adequate, while the passenger’s chest received adequate protection as well. Lower legs showed adequate safety levels, and no critical structures behind the dashboard posed a significant risk.

The side movable deformable barrier test results were exemplary, with full marks achieved. The XUV400 EV provided good protection to the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis, showcasing its robust side impact resistance. In the side pole impact test, the head protection was rated as good, with adequate ratings for other body regions, further confirming its safety credentials.

Mahindra XUV400 EV – Child Occupant Protection [COP]

In the Child Occupant Protection assessment, the XUV400 EV performed exceptionally well, scoring 43.00 out of 49 points. The dynamic testing highlighted its high safety standards with child restraint systems (CRS). The rearward-facing Britax Romer Dualfix Pro M seat for an 18-month-old provided full protection, achieving the highest score of 8.00 out of 8.00. The same CRS configuration for a 3-year-old also demonstrated strong performance with top ratings in both frontal and side impact tests.

The second-row outboard seats are equipped with standard ISOFIX anchor points and i-Size compatibility, enabling secure installation of CRS. However, the front passenger seat does not have ISOFIX, i-Size, or integrated CRS features. The CRS installation assessment showed that the XUV400 EV supports easy and effective installation across different child seat models, contributing to its robust child safety performance.
