Joseph Fernandes Maruti launched the new generation Ertiga MPV in late last year.And since then, it has been selling in great numbers as well.Now after a long time, Maruti Suzuki has finally launched Ertiga CNG in India.
Initially it was being offered only in 1.5 L petrol 4 cylinder smart hybrid as well as 1.3 DDis fiat sourced engines and a few months back, it also got the option for 1.5 diesel as well.Also recently, it also got tour M variant as well.
Now Maruti have brought CNG option as well due for great demand and to increase the options as well.But the CNG trims are limited only upto specific trim including VXI 1.5 petrol model which doesn’t get the SHVS mild hybrid tech.And for the commercial car segment, there is CNG variant also for the Tour M trim.
Coming to the price, Ertiga VXI CNG 2019 costs INR 8.88 Lakhs and Tour M CNG is priced at INR 8.83 Lakhs (Prices, Ex Showroom).If we put into comparison with the standard petrol variant, then the CNG trim is dearer by upto Rs. 71,000.
Maruti Ertiga CNG is powered by 1.5 L 4 cylinder petrol motor making out 104 BHP of peak power and 138 NM of torque but when you switch on to CNG mode, the power and torque comes down at 91 BHP and 122 NM torque respectively.It gets paired with 5 speed manual transmission.The claimed fuel efficiency of 2019 Ertiga CNG is 26.2 km/kg.
It gets CNG tank capacity of 60 litres and also gets auto fuel switch through which you can switch between petrol and CNG modes.Although the petrol variants gets SHVS tech, but the CNG mode misses out on the same.
While the VXI CNG trims comes in a total of 5 colour options including White, Red, Silver, Gray, Blue, the Tour M CNG has got the option of only White, Silver and Black options.Currently, Maruti Ertiga is doing a monthly sales of around 8000 units per month which is great for a 7 seater vehicle.With the availability of CNG variant, its sales are likely to get a major boost up as well.
Maruti is also bringing a 6 seater version of Ertiga in August 21.Named as XL6, the sporty MPV will be retailed via the premium Nexa dealerships.It is expected to be launched in India on August 21, 2019.
It will carry a premium price over the regular Ertiga MPV which will translate into more features and better exterior and interior kit.The main interior highlight will be the captain second row seats.On the exterior, it will get slightly different designed headlamp setup with DRL, front grille design along with full body cladding and roof rails
To be offered in Zeta and Alpha trims, it will be extracting power from 1.5 L petrol engine which will be available with both manual and automatic options for Maruti XL6.It misses out on both the diesel options.
