You may be asking how is the Mild-Hybrid Tech beneficial? Well, the Mild-hybrid systems in cars offer fuel efficiency improvements by seamlessly integrating electric power during acceleration, and contribute to reduced emissions, promoting environmental sustainability. This new variant will be powered by the 2.8 L Diesel engine except it’ll paired to an 48V mild-hybrid system. Similar to the South-African, expect this hybrid setup to contribute an extra 15.7 BHP and 42 NM, resulting in a combined power output of 201 BHP and 500 NM Torque. However, it’s unlikely that the Petrol engine will receive this enhancement and is expected to remain unchanged.Toyota had claimed 5% improved fuel efficiency for the South-African Fortuner, so expect the same for the Indian version as well. Notably, Toyota may also add a new Idle Start / Stop Feature with the SUV for improved throttle response, and smooth engine response. Other than that, expect Toyota to also add new features such as 360 Surround View Camera, and Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite. The Fortuner in India competes with Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
