Maruti Suzuki has released a new teaser hinting at big changes the brand will be making towards its SUV its cars in its portfolio. These changes are related to the CNG Model and it’s possible new features will be introduced as well.
Maruti Teases New S-CNG Changes: What Could it be?
Maruti Suzuki is hinting at significant updates for its CNG vehicle lineup in India. The brand has released a new teaser suggesting big changes are coming to its CNG-powered models – Dzire, Celerio, Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, etc. and so on, which currently bear the S-CNG badge and come equipped with factory-installed CNG Cylinder.
One issue with the current models is the single CNG tank, which occupies much of the boot space and has led to complaints about less boot space. From the teaser, we think Maruti Suzuki might address this issue by introducing a dual-tank setup, similar to the version used by Tata Motors in its i-CNG models like the Tigor, Tiago, Punch, and soon it’s coming to the Nexon. Tata uses two smaller CNG tanks of 30 Litres, and hence solving the boot space problem.
Maruti Suzuki may implement further enhancements to the CNG kits in its vehicles to improve safety, reliability, and performance. These changes come at a time when the company is expecting a significant rise in its CNG vehicle sales, aiming for a 30 percent increase to 600,000 units in the current fiscal year. A senior company official also mentioned plans to boost exports to around 300,000 units.
Moreover, Maruti could introduce some first-in segment features across its CNG models to stay ahead of its two main rivals – Tata and Hyundai.
