Tata Punch EV is soon going to get a new rival from its known competitive company, Hyundai Motors. Hyundai will be introducing the Inster EV soon for India sporting big features over the Exter SUV and similar to the Punch EV. Here’s what you need to know!

The Hyundai Inster is perfect for city driving due to its compact dimensions, yet it offers impressive interior space thanks to its extended body. Its rugged design features include a sunroof, LED daytime running lights, projection headlamps, strong fenders, a high-tech circuit board-style bumper, and a bold skid plate. The vehicle also boasts foldable seats and a higher wheelbase, allowing it to handle rough terrains with ease.

Inside, the Inster is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, a wireless charging dock, and a stylish steering wheel that emphasizes its high-tech appeal. The interior design is further customizable with upper door trim garnishes, allowing owners to personalize their vehicle. The front row provides walk-through access, and all seats, including the driver’s, can be folded flat for increased versatility. The second-row seats are split 50/50 and can slide and recline for added comfort.
Although for the Indian-spec version, it’s possible it may get a bigger 10.25-inch Infotainment but not the same digital cluster, they might settle for the 4.2-inch Digital Colour TFT Cluster from the Exter. Moreover, unlike the Punch EV which gets an electric parking brake its possible it might not get this feature as well.
The 2024 Hyundai Inster EV offers two battery options: a 42 kWh standard battery and a 49 kWh long-range battery, with the latter providing an impressive range of up to 355 km (WLTP) on a single charge. Under optimal conditions, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes. An 11 kW on-board charger comes standard with the vehicle. For the Indian-spec version, it’s possible it may get a smaller battery pack, possibly between 35 – 40 kWh to have an competitive price to rival Punch EV.
Hyundai Inster EV is designed as a global product for the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. So, it’s likely Hyundai will introduce the Inster EV in India near the end of 2025 or probably in the first half of 2026 to take on its sole rival in segment, Tata Punch EV.
