After being tested for months, this new Creta-rival could launch in India by January 2026!
Skoda India is preparing to introduce the refreshed Kushaq in January 2026, bringing a major update to its popular midsize SUV. First launched in 2021, the Kushaq now goes up against feature-heavy rivals, and the facelift aims to add stronger tech, better equipment and small design revisions while retaining the proven TSI engine lineup.
Exterior Changes

The updated Kushaq will carry forward its rugged stance but with cleaner, sharper detailing. Test mules spotted over the past months hint at redesigned LED headlamps, a revised grille inspired by newer Skoda models, and a more squared-off front air dam. The fog lamp housing could also be larger.
A new set of matte-black alloy wheels, likely 17-inch, is expected, while elements like roof rails, door cladding and grab-type handles should remain unchanged. At the rear, the SUV may feature slimmer tail-lamps with a connected LED light bar in place of the existing ‘SKODA’ lettering. Updates to the rear bumper are also expected under the heavy camouflage seen on prototypes. One of the biggest additions will be a panoramic sunroof, finally matching the equipment level offered by competitors in the segment.
Interior, and Features

Inside, the facelifted Kushaq is likely to receive new trim inserts, fresh upholstery colours and a more premium overall layout. The equipment list will see notable additions, including a 360-degree surround view camera, new bigger infotainment system, new fully digital cluster like Kodiaq and possibly an enhanced sound system.
A major highlight will be the introduction of Level 2 ADAS, making the Kushaq Skoda’s first mass-market model in India to offer this tech. Expected safety features include six airbags, hill-hold assist, electronic parking brake with auto hold, rain-sensing wipers, etc. in line with its existing 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. Ventilated front seats and electric adjustment for the driver and co-passenger are also expected to continue along with some new features like panoramic sunroof and rear sunshades.
Engines and New Gearbox Option
The 2026 Kushaq will retain the well-known TSI petrol engines. The 115hp, 178Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol will continue with its 6-speed manual, while the current 6-speed automatic is planned to be replaced by a more efficient, localised 8-speed automatic (AQ300) later in 2026. This upgrade is expected to improve fuel economy and help the brand meet upcoming CAFE 3 norms.
The more powerful 150hp, 250Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will also stay on, paired with a 7-speed DSG at launch. Skoda may explore switching to an 8-speed torque converter for this engine too, although this change is expected only post-launch.
Final Thoughts
With refreshed styling, a panoramic sunroof, stronger tech, and Level 2 ADAS, the Skoda Kushaq facelift is shaping up to be a more complete package in the midsize SUV space. Combined with its established TSI engines and expected new gearbox options, the 2026 Kushaq aims to stay competitive against rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Victoris and Toyota Hyryder.
