Hyundai Exter against the Renault Kiger!

It is time to put the newly launched affordable SUV, Hyundai Exter, to test against the Renault’s SUV, Kiger, to see which company’s SUV you should buy!

Hyundai Exter vs Renault Kiger – Design

From the outside, the Exter has flat bonnet with a big Hyundai logo on it and the three-tier design nose. It has H-shaped LED DRLs that are connected via a black strip and the headlamps are square shape that are halogen projector headlights. Then there is the body cladding finished in matte black all over the car to contribute towards the Exter’s looks. Moving to the side, you’ll realize the SUV has boxy shape. The doors seems to be big enough to accommodate easy in’s and out’s of the SUV. The alloy wheels, roof rails, A and B-pillars has the dual-tone treatment, and the SUV is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, it has an upright tailgate with the rear windshield slightly tilted, shark fin antenna at the top, small roof-spoiler, flat and tall rear bumper with dual-tone finished. The taillamps has an H-shaped in them with a big black panel and big 2D Hyundai logo at the center.

From the outside, the Renault Kiger has wide V-shape grille with two chrome line and at the center is the Renault logo that divides the chrome lines. The grille connects to the thin J-shape LED DRLs, and below that is tri-cube LED headlamps with the bumpers finished in faux silver skid plate. The bonnet of the Kiger has cuts for a sporty look. Moving to the side, it has functional roof-rails, little cuts on the body, door cladding, and rides on the 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, it has spoiler with shark fin antenna on top, J-shape LED taillamps that are positioned horizontally, and chrome line on the bottom of the tailgate.

From the inside, the Hyundai Exter has an 8-inch infotainment system with two round dials on left and right of the system, and four buttons both the sides above the dials to control the infotainment system. The Exter comes with dual-tone dashboard theme option with round AC vents at the sides, and rectangular AC vents below the infotainment system. The Exter has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control below the AC vents, single-pane sunroof on top, and dual dashcams – one behind the IRVM, and the other on the rear windshield. Moving to the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio with the center passenger getting no headrest, but it comes with rear AC vents, and the SUV is equipped with 6-speaker sound system.

As for the Kiger, it has a 7-inch infotainment system at the center placed above the AC vents and the AC Vents at the side positioned horizontally. It has dual-tone dashboard theme option as well. The Kiger has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with digital instrument cluster, and the pedals finished in black. Around the gear lever, it has a rotary dial for drive mode, button for ambient lighting, armrest with loads of storage space below, and leather seats upholstery. Moving to the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio and has 6-speaker Arkamy’s sound system.

So, from the outside and the inside, the Renault Kiger looks really good than the Hyundai Exter, and it feels very spacious and premium as well.

In Dimensions, the Hyundai Exter measures 3815mm in length, 1710mm in width, and 1631mm in height. The Kiger on the other hand measures 3991mm in length that is longer by 176mm, width of 1750mm that is 40mm wide, and height of 1650mm which is 19mm taller. The Exter has a wheelbase of 2450mm and ground clearance of 185mm while the Kiger has a wheelbase of 2500mm which is 50mm longer, and ground clearance of 205mm that is higher by 20mm. The Exter comes with a boot space of 391 litres where as the Kiger comes with 405 litres that is bigger by 14 litres. Lastly, the Exter got a Petrol fuel tank of 37 litres, and CNG Cylinder of 60 litres where as the Kiger comes with petrol only powertrain which is of 40 litres, which is bigger by 3 litres.
