Tata Altroz will be launched in India in the next couple of days.It has been already unveiled last month and the official bookings for upcoming premium hatchback by Tata are already underway at a token amount of Rs. 21,000.It comes loaded in every aspect and offers certain unique concept in the form of factory fitted customisation.
In the Global NCAP, the made in India hatchback secured a full 5 stars and also became the second Tata car, after Nexon to achieve the rating.The Global NCAP tested the base XE variant of Tata Altroz which boasts standard safety equipments includes ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, dual front airbags, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder, high speed alert system and reverse parking sensors.For adult safety, Altroz scored 5 stars and secured 3 stars for the child occupant protection.
GNCAP has rated the overall structure and footwell area of Altroz stable.Head and neck protection for adult was also rated good while for chest protection for adults, it was adequate.The protect titan of 1.5 year old child dummy was also good while the backrest of the 3 years old dummy child’s seat unlatched during the test.GNCAP further states that the 3 year old child’s dummy head contacted with the interior of the car resulting in a loss of points.
In terms of scores in the adult occupant protection, the premium hatchback managed to secure 16.13 points out of 17 which is quite impressive.For the child occupant protection, Altroz got 3 stars with a total of 29 points out of 49.
Tata Altroz prices will be unveiled in India on January 22 and is expected to put in the bracket of Rs. 5.5 Lakhs and Rs. 8.5 Lakhs.The hatchback comes available in BS-VI compliant 1.2 L Revotron petrol unit and 1.5 L Revotorq motor both offered with 5 speed manual transmission option.Turbo petrol variant and DCT automatic unit for 1.2 L petrol are expected to make their way to the hatchback in festive season 2020.Once launched, Tata Altroz will find competition with Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz.
