Mahindra XUV500 has been one of the most popular SUV in India since its launch in 2011. XUV500 is a three row SUV with a seating capacity of 7. Also the company’s first monocoque chassis based vehicle was XUV500 only and now after a couple of facelift, it will get a generation update.

What are the Dimensions of New XUV500 2021?
With the generation update, the overall dimensions are going to increase to accommodate more space in the cabin as well as for the boot. Height of XUV500 at 1,785 will continue to remain the same while the overall weight will be reduced by around 150 kg thanks to lighter and more rigid platform.
Also, the length, width, wheelbase as well as boot carrying capacity of the 7-seater SUV is going to be more than the outgoing generation of the XUV500.

Redesigned Exteriors
A completely revamped look will be seen on the new XUV500. Upfront, it will get LED Projector headlamps and Marazzo like front grille but much bigger and wider in size. Also like the XUV300, the elder brother will have connected headlamps and fog lamps in golf stick shape. Bonnet will be longer than before.
Whats really more interesting is the flush type outside door handles which will also make it to the production version and is a feature that if offered in luxury cars.
Alloy wheels will be redesigned albeit the one spied was without the wheel cover. Tail lights will be derived from Ssangyong Korando which contains LED elements and will be connected by a chrome bar. Rear bumpers is quite big in size which accentuates its SUV looks.
Completely New Interiors
The cabin of Mahindra XUV500 will be all new in 2021. Steering wheel is now flat bottomed and the instrument cluster looks similar to Marazzo and won’t be an all digital unit. The main highlight here is the dual screen setup like we have seen in Kia Seltos.
Waterfall type dashboard design is now gone and the 10.25-inch infotainment system comes in with ac controls placed under it. Buttons and controls for various operations likely to be carry forwarded from Marazzo to avoid the additional cost.
Also inside door handles, seats will be all new to provide completely different experience. The centre tunnel will have drive modes, electric parking and twin cup holders. It is likely to be available in captain / bench seat option for the second row.
What engine options will New XUV500 get?
Presently available 2.2 litre mHawk Diesel engine of Mahindra XUV500 will be removed and it will get 2.0 L petrol engine (showcased at the auto expo 2020) and the new 2.0 L diesel unit as well.

- As compared to the earlier 2.2 litre diesel engine, the new diesel mill available with 4WD for the higher trims with option of 6 speed manual and torque converter automatic makes 30 BHP more power and 20 NM more torque with better mileage.
- While the all new 2.0-litre petrol engine is also really powerful with figures of 187 BHP and 380 NM. Transmission options includes both manual and automatic with expected average of 13 kmpl.

What will be the estimated price of New XUV500 in India?
2020 Mahindra XUV500 is priced between Rs. 13.2 Lakhs and Rs. 17.7 Lakhs for the 2.2 L Diesel engine with front wheel drive system and with the introduction of petrol engine in the SUV, the introductory price will go down by Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 1 Lakhs and also the 2.0 L diesel variants of new XUV500 will be cheaper than the outgoing variants.
2021 New Mahindra XUV500 is expected to start from Rs. 12 Lakhs for the base petrol manual variant and go upto Rs. 18.5 Lakhs for the top end diesel trim with all wheel drive system.

Tough Competitors?
XUV500 has always ruled this segment but the entry of MG Hector Plus and Tata Gravitas will make 3-row SUV class very competitive. Also Hyundai India will bring a XUV500 rival in the form of Creta 7 seater by the end of next year.
When will Mahindra launch the New XUV500?
Mahindra and Mahindra will launch the second generation XUV500 in India in February 2021, earlier planned for the month of January but got delayed like the other cars due to coronavirus pandemic.
