Skoda Rapid BS 6 complaint will be launched in India with turbocharged 1.0 litre TSI petrol powertrain which means it will do away with the existing BS 4 gasoline units including 1.6 litre MPI petrol and 1.5 litre TDI diesel.
The 1.6 litre MPI available with 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic with claimed fuel efficiency of 15.41 kmpl and 14.84 kmpl respectively used to generate out 104 BHP @ 4000 RPM and 153 NM @ 3750 RPM.
While the 1.5 litre TDI diesel which was also offered with manual and automatic gearbox (5 Speed MT / 7 Speed DSG)has power and torque outputs of 109 BHP @ 4000 RPM and 250 NM @ 1500 RPM.For this engine, Skoda Auto India claimed 21.13 kmpl for 5 Speed manual and 21.72 kmpl for 7 speed automatic
Now the new 1.0 litre TSI petrol engine available with 6 speed manual gearbox makes 108 BHP of power and 175 NM of maximum torque.6 Speed torque converter automatic gearbox will join Rapid sedan on a later stage.While VW Vento with the same engine under the hood gets the option of both manual and automatic engine right from the day of launch of BS 6 Vento.

It will be launched soon after the nationwide lockdown is lifted.Along with this, couple of other Skoda cars including Karoq SUV, Superb facelift are also scheduled to launch along with Rapid 1.0.Bookings for these two new cars are officially open as well.
When launched, Skoda Rapid BS 6 will compete with recently launched Hyundai Verna facelift, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti Ciaz and upcoming Honda City 2020.it is expected to be priced in India between 8.8 Lakhs and 11.9 Lakhs (Ex Showroom).
