Hyundai’s most awaited small hatchback will get a name on October 4,2018,ahead of model’s market launch in the last week of same month.It is no secret that Hyundai is reintroducing Santro in India and could even use the same moniker.The upcoming small hatchback is expected to bear the Santro badge followed by a suffix.The company will also launch a contest on August 16 inviting suggestions for the model’s full name.
Santro will enter as a replacement for the Eon.Spy images suggest that the hatchback might have similar proportions to the 1st-gen i10 but will continue with tall boy design.The exterior of Santro will change completely with stylish cascading front grille,new 13-inch wheels and upright rear fascia with large bumpers resembling New Grand i10 2018 and New XCent.
The cabin will feature dual tone black and beige upholstery,3-spoke steering wheel with integrated front headrests,new infotainment system with power window controls near the gearbox.Windows are large in size to make the car roomy.
There would only one engine on offer at the time of launch and that would be an updated 1086 cc petrol engine that was offered on the Santro Xing paired with a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission.Later a diesel unit is expected to be introduced.By 2020,the engine will receive an upgrade in order to comply with BS-VI norms.
New Santro 2018 India will compete with high selling cars like Renault Kwid,Maruti Alto K10,Tata Tiago and WagonR.It is rumoured to be launched on Diwali 2018.
