Kia Seltos India launch has been confirmed for the month of August 2019.It will be launched in India on August 22.Recently, it made its world premiere in New Delhi where the Korean SUV was revealed along with its specifications, features as well as engine options.
Seltos will be the first car by the carmakers for India which will enter the highly contested SUV segment which has the capability to churn out huge sales.When launched, it will rival against Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Mahindra XUV 500.
In term of dimensions, it is 4.3 m long which translates into better length when compared to Creta.Width and height are 1800 mm and 1620 mm while the wheelbase is 2610 mm.Even the cargo space of Seltos is more than Creta at 433 litres.
Kia Seltos will get three engine options and the best thing is that all these units are BS-VI compliant.It gets a 1.5 L naturally aspirated petrol engine which churns out 113 BHP of power and 144 NM of maximum torque.The diesel one is a turbo 1.5 L which produces 113 BHP of peak power along with 250 NM of torque which is 10 NM less than Creta’s 1.6 L Diesel engine.
There is also GT Line variant – 1.4 L turbocharged petrol variant which makes 138 BHP and 242 NM figures.All the three engines get 6 speed manual transmission as standard while the 1.5 petrol is teamed up also with 7 speed CVT, 1.5 diesel with 6 speed torque converter while the turbo petrol variant of Seltos also gets option for 7 Speed DCT.
Seltos will be a feature loaded car.In terms of safety, it has 360-degree camera with blind spot detection, 6 airbags, all 4 disc brakes, VSC, Traction Control, Brake Assist Control, Hill Start Assist among others.A long list of standard safety features including rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, engine immobiliser and others will be there right from the base model.
It is surely in terms of features where Seltos stands out from its rivals.The main interior highlight is the big size 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system with all the modern connectivity options along with UVO connect which works similar to that of Venue’s Blue Link.It also gets 8 Speakers Bose Sound System, 8 inch Heads up Display, Rear Recline Seats, Electrically powered driver seat, sound mood lighting, electric sunroof, air purifier, automatic ac, front ventilated seats, drive modes including eco, normal and sport modes as well as mud, wet and sand modes as well.
No doubt Seltos is highly feature loaded.With the feature it has, it has got the capability to even challenge the position of above segment vehicles as well.Seltos will get 8 monotone and 5 dual tone colour options.Kia Motors India will have around 265 touchpoints in 160 cities when Seltos goes on sale which will increase upto 300 in 2020 and 350 in 2021.
Official bookings for the premium SUV will begin in the 2nd week of July while some Kia dealerships have started taking unofficial bookings at a token amount of Rs. 25,000.Price of the SUV will be between Rs. 11 L and Rs. 17 L (Ex Showroom).
