Maruti XL6 is the sporty and more premium version of Ertiga.It has been teased a number of times on the interior and exterior front and features host of changes to distinguish it from the standard Ertiga.
In terms of exterior changes, it gets single slat chrome grille which runs across connecting the DRLs in the headlamp unit.There are quad LED headlamps replacing projector headlamps and surely they looking very stunning and refreshing as well.Fog lamp housing and air intakes are designed differently, while there is full body cladding, roof rails to make it a rugged SUV.
Moving to the side, it gets 15 inch alloy wheel finished in gunmetal while the mirrors are in black colour with turn indicators.There are those big size two colour roof rails and roof antenna as well.At the rear are the similar tail lamp and here the addition is the skid plates which are also present in the front section as well.
The interior of the MPV received major changes.It gets sporty all black theme with leather seat upholstery.The dashboard is also finished in black instead of black and beige and the wooden treatment above the glovebox is replaced by very premium stone finish garnish and silver accent under it.
It gets all three rows captain seats which means it is a 6 seater vehicles.In terms of features, it boasts cruise controls, leather upholstery over the regular Ertiga and carries all the features from the MPV as well.It gets 7 inch smart studio infotainment system with android auto, Apple Carplay, navigation and mirror link, automatic ac, engine push start stop button with keyless entry, front and rear armrest with storage, Electrically Adjustable and Foldable ORVM, 4 speakers and 2 front tweeters and cooled cupholders.
Safety equipments list includes ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and camera, 2 airbags, rear demister, Front Seatbelt with Pretensioner and Force Limiter, High speed alert system, Speed sensitive automatic door locks, ISOFIX child seat mounts among others.
The specifications and dimensions of Ertiga and XL6 will also be slightly different as well.Its length, width and height are 4,445 mm, 1,775 mm and 1,700 mm which means XL6 is longer, wider and taller than Ertiga by 50 mm, 40 mm and 10 mm respectively.The turning radius and wheelbase of both the Maruti vehicles will be same at 5.2 m for turning radius and 2,740 mm for wheelbase.
Unlike the Ertiga which is offered in a variety of engine options including 1.5 L petrol engine and 1.3 litre and 1.5 litre diesel units and petrol-CNG option, XL6 will be offered in just 1.5 litre engine option.This motor will be BS-VI compliant smart hybrid petrol unit churning out 103 BHP @ 6000 RPM and 138 NM @ 4400 RPM.It will get power through 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmission options.Mileage of the MPV will be same as that of Ertiga with petrol manual fuel economy at 19.34 kmpl and for automatic it will be 18.69 kmpl.It will be offered in a total of two variants – Zeta and Alpha, with both these trims being available in manual as well as automatic options.
There will be a total of 6 single tone colour schemes which includes metallic premium silver, ,metallic magma grey, pearl brave khaki, prime auburn red, next blue and pearl arctic white.There won’t be any dual tone exterior paint options.
Maruti Ertiga is sold via the Maruti Arena showrooms while the new XL6 will be retailed through their premium network of Nexa dealerships in India.Bookings for the upcoming MPV are already open at a token amount of Rs. 11,000.The launch of this new Maruti car will take place in India on August 21 and will be among a number of cars to be launched in India in the month of August 2019.
It will be priced at a slightly premium price over Ertiga.Maruti XL6 is expected to be priced in India between INR 9.5 Lakhs and INR 11.1 Lakhs (Ex Showroom Price).Since it gets number of features and interior and exterior changes, the price will increase.
Maruti Ertiga has been going great since its launch in India in November 2018.The 2nd generation Ertiga has recently crosses 70,000 sales numbers and is going strong.In the month of July 2019, it has grabbed more than 9,000 units and become the highest selling SUV.In terms of numbers, it is going better than Creta, Brezza and other SUVs as well.
However, since the past few months, Maruti Suzuki have got slight decline in their overall sales and surely their new premium and sporty product in the form of XL6 will get the sales back on track as well.In terms of competition, it will be taking directly on the likes of Mahindra Marazzo.
