MG ZS EV bags record 2,300 bookings before official launch, Price reveal on January 23

MG Motor had a dream debut in India with their Hector SUV shaking up the segment.With all the bells and whistles, the SUV crosses 15,000 sales in just 6 months of launch and bagged more than 30,000 bookings.It continues to be consistent seller with average sales at 3,200 units per month.

Now MG will be launching their all new car in the form of MG ZS pure electric internet SUV which as unveiled in India last month and the official bookings are already underway.Within 27 days, it has garnered a record 2,300 bookings which is a really really big number for an electric car.Due to this only, the official launch of the SUV by Morris Garages has also been preponed from January 27 to January 23.MG eZS bookings were open till January 17 and now have been temporarily closed and those who have booked between that period will be able to get the vehicle at a special introductory price.

With the total number of bookings received, MG eZS has also surpassed the cumulative electric vehicle sales of Hyundai Kona Electric, Mahindra eVerito and e2o, Tata Tigor electric in 2019.A total of 292 units of Kona Electric were retailed in 2019 while Tata managed to retail out 1049 and 728 units respectively.And this numbers for ZS EV is also significant in another way, that this SUV is actually carrying ex showroom price of over Rs. 20 Lakh and still managed to bag in 2,300 bookings and that before official launch!!

MG eZS will be sold in 5 cities of the country – New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad and after that it will make way to other cities subsequently, when the charging infrastructure is available in a wider area.The company has already installed 10 DC fast charger at 10 dealerships across India located in Gurugram, West Delhi, Lajpat Nagar (South Delhi), Noida, Thane, Mumbai West, Bengaluru ORR, Bengaluru Electronic City, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.The Internet SUV will be brought as a completely knocked down (CKD) product and the assembly will take place at brand’s Halol plant in Gujarat and the carmakers are planning to increase the production plant owing to huge demand.Within next on year, they are also looking to setup its electric battery assembly in the country itself.

Morris Garages ZS Electric comes with a 44.5 kWh IP67 certified liquid cooled battery back, which powers a synchronous electric motor with power and torque output figures of 141 BHP and 353 NM of maximum torque.The ARAI claimed range of the electric SUV is stated at 340 km and it does 0-100 kmph in just 8.5 seconds.It also supports fast charging with juicing up 80% of the battery with 50 KW fast charging in just 40 minutes while a standard 7.4 kW charger will take around 7 hours for a full charge.

MG eZS comes in a total of 2 variants – Excite and Exclusive and top features includes 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system, PM 2.5 filter, rain sensing wipers, panoramic sunroof, leather seat upholstery, 17 inch alloys, LED daytime running lamps, keyless entry and push start button, powered driver side seat, electronic parking brake, rain sensing automatic wipers.Top safety tech includes ABS with. EBD, 6 airbags, electronic stability programme, hill launch assist, hill descent control, rear parking sensors and reverse parking camera as well.

MG ZS EV official launch and price reveal will take place on January 23.When launched, it will compete with the like of Hyundai Kona Electric and the MG electric SUV is expected to carry a starting price of Rs. 22 Lakhs (Ex Showroom).
