New Grand i10 NIOS production begins in India, Launch on August 20

2019 Grand i10 NIOS interior as well as exterior have been revealed recently in their teaser video.Also, the production of this upcoming hatchback has also begin in India where the first Grand i10 NIOS has been rolled out from the Chennai plant.

Presently, Hyundai have two hatchbacks including Santro and Grand i10 and they are generating good sales numbers.Even the current generation Grand i10 is still in great demand as a result of which even after the launch of New Grand i10 NIOS, the existing Grand i10 will remain in the lineup as well.The present Grand i10 won’t be discontinued as of considerable demand in the market and will co exist along with Grand i10 NIOS but will get a price reduction.

New Grand i10 NIOS gets very refreshing exterior design.Upfront, it gets new projector headlamps, new and very stylish cascade design grille which also houses boomerang shaped LED daytime running lights.The creases flows till the rear fender.It rides on all new diamond cut alloy wheels.At the rear are the new tail lamps which are slightly bigger in size and they looks slightly similar to that seen on Tata Tiago.

Earlier Grand i10 got dual tone black and beige interior theme which will be replaced by new black and ivory interior theme.It gets infotainment system and steering wheel inspired from Hyundai Kona Electric.The instrument cluster is completely new as well which houses 5.3 inch MID screen in between.The main change will be adjustable headrest for the front seats.There will be ARKAMYS sound system as well.

It will get many new features including best in class wireless phone charger, shark Finn antenna, 8 inch HD infotainment system with Apple Carplay, android auto, mirror link, navigation.It is also expected to get blue link technology which is a big reason for high sales figures for Venue as well.

Most of the features will be carried forward from Grand i10 including power foldable ORVMs with turn indicators, push start stop button with keyless entry, automatic ac, steering mounted controls, rear ac vents, leather wrapped steering wheel among other top features.

Some new safety features will also be introduced which includes High speed alert system, Speed sensing auto door locks, ISOFIX child seat mounts, Front seatbelt reminder and Driver and Passenger Seat belt pretensioner.It also gets ABS with EBD, 2 Airbags, Rear Sensors and Camera, front fog lamps and rear demister. 

This will be the 3rd generation Grand i10 launching in India and will be based on all new platform.It will be underpinned by the same base as that of Venue which is advanced K1 platform which is rigid and strong and is made up of Advanced High Strength Steel and High Strength Steel.

There will be a total of 6 colours on offer in which Aqua Teal and Alpha Blue are all new colours.There will also be dual tone exterior theme option as well which includes Polar White with black roof and also Aqua Teal with black roof.

Grand i10 NIOS will get the same engines as on offer in the existing Grand i10 but for NIOS they will be upgraded to BS-VI.Along with this, there will be one more change that the torque converter will be replaced by 5 speed in house developed AMT which made its debut in Santro.Hyundai will also be loading diesel variant with automatic transmission option as well.

The power and torque figures of these units will be same as before with diesel amt generating fuel efficiency as high as 28.4 kmpl with 26.2 kmpl for the Manual counterpart.The petrol manual and amt engine will be delivering claimed mileage of 20.7 kmpl and 20.5 kmpl respectively. 

Grand i10 NIOS will be offered in a total of 5 variants – Base Era, Magna, Sports, Sportz Dual Tone and Top end Asta Model.While all these 5 trims will be available in 1.2 petrol manual option, Hyundai will offer Magna and Sportz with 1.2 petrol AMT as well.While the diesel manual will remain limited upto Magna and Asta models with diesel automatic being available in Sportz variant.

In comparison to Grand i10 there would be a change in overall dimensions as well.The length, width and wheelbase will go up by 40 mm, 20 mm and 25 mm respectively.Height will remain unchanged with the boot space also growing in size as well.

New Grand i10 NIOS will be around Rs. 30,000 premium over the regular Grand i10 with the prices expected to begin from Rs. 5.3 Lakhs and with the top end diesel trim costing around Rs. 8.5 Lakhs (Ex Showroom Prices).Hyundai will try to keep the prices of Grand i10 NIOS as competitive as possible.

New Grand i10 will be taking on the likes of Maruti Swift and Ford Figo and both these vehicles have got decline in their sales in the past few months and it would be a great chance for Grand i10 2019 to establish a dominant position in the small hatchback segment.

Bookings for the upcoming Hyundai hatchback are already open at Rs. 11,000 and the launch of the car will be taking place in India on August 20,2019.It will be the third launch of the year by the auto company for the Indian market.
