As we move closer to the launch of New WagonR, details regarding it’s launch, price, expected features and variant lineup have begun to emerge.A number of times WagonR have been spied whether it is 5-seater WagonR or 7-seater or WagonR EV.But as of now, New WagonR which is coming in next 30 days has been spied undisguised.
WagonR will be based on the same platform as of it’s current generation with slight tweaks to meet the safety norms and stricter regulations of BS-VI.The alteration is also necessary to house an increase in length as well as wheelbase of the car.WagonR already used to offer humongous space on the inside and with this increase, the boot space of the car will further increase while offering excellent spaciousness for the rear passengers.
WagonR will get a total of 3 variants – LXi, VXi and ZXi which will be offered in manual as well as Auto Gear Shift (AGS).The top-spec trim of WagonR, ZXi, is rumoured to get a 1.2-litre series petrol engine which also powers the Swift, Dzire and Baleno.LXi and VXi will be powered by the BS-IV 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine.This engine which will be paired to both 5-speed manual and AMT transmission will make 68 PS of power and 90 NM of torque.
On the exterior front, major updates can be seen on the front and rear end.Prominent elements on the outside includes new wraparound headlamps which are slightly bigger than those seen on current WagonR.The headlamps joins the front grille which flanks a thick chrome slat which houses the Suzuki badge in the centre.Moving a bit downwards, we will see a redesigned bumper with new air intakes for better stability at higher speeds.The design of fog lamps is also new which have now become angular in shape.The bonnet os the hatchback has been made a bit more stylish and muscular.

Moving to the side, WagonR gets sloping roof design plus the outside rear view design looks quite similar to that of Ignis.WagonR is expected to sit on new 13-inch steel wheels.WagonR will still be a boxy shaped hatchback.Big windows and tall boy design are some of the key features which is also a reason for it’s high sales throughout it’s life span and will be continued in 6th generation WagonR also.
Rear of the hatchback will feature new tail lamps.The tail lights have moved a bit upwards and looks quite stylish.A thick chrome boot applique is placed over the number plate.Rear bumper of New WagonR sports two reflectors.Overall, the design of 2019 WagonR looks quite promising.
On the inside, premium features are expected in the form of new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with all the connectivity options, a new redesigned centre console, advanced MID.New WagonR will feature dual tone premium black and beige upholstery with stylish accents for the inside door handles.Seats will also grow a bit in size offering good amount of comfort for it’s front passengers.The headrest of the front as well as rear seats will be adjustable and is expected to be offered from the V variant.The car would be high on practicality offering a number of small storage spaces and charging sockets for the front row.Rear A/C vents misses out on New WagonR.Steering wheel will be all new which will be housing audio as well as bluetooth telephony controls.
In terms of Safety, ABS, Front Dual Airbags, Speed Sensitive Auto Door Lock, Reverse Parking Sensors and to name a few more will be offered right from the basic model of WagonR.Top-spec trim of WagonR will be offering Reverse Parking Camera with moving guidelines which will be displayed on the Infotainment system, Rear Defogger, EBD, Central Locking, Keyless Entry, ISOFIX child mounts, Driver seat belt reminder.
Maruti WagonR 2019 will be launched in India on January 23, 2019.Prices of New WagonR are expected to be between Rs. 4.3 Lakhs and Rs. 5.5 Lakhs.At this price segment, it will take on the likes of Tata Tiago, New Santro, Renault Kwid and KUV100 NXT.
