Nissan Micra, Micra Active, Sunny Discontinued, BS 6 Kicks Coming Soon

Nissan India now have only Kicks and GT-R in their lineup with a sub compact SUV planned for August 2020

Nissan India have officially remove Micra, Micra Active hatchback and the C-Segment Sunny sedan from their lineup.Now they have only two cars in their lineup – Kicks and GT-R.The car makers will soon bring their Magnite compact SUV for which the carmakers have high expectations.

The carmakers have discontinued their Terrano SUV recently and now a couple of more have been removed.What could be the reason for the discontinuation of these 3 cars.These car models were not able to grab up the expected sales number.Presently, there is no word on the replacement of these discontinued Nissan models.

Nissan begun its journey in the Indian market with their Micra hatchback.The Japanese automakers launched the 4th gen of the feature rich hatchback in India.Launched back in 2010, it got a mild facelift in 2014 and then a big upgrade came in 2017.Some of the top features of Nissan Micra were auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers, push start button, follow me home lamps among cars.

Micra was available with 1.2 litre petrol with output figures of 76 BHP and 104 NM with CVT gearbox while 1.5 litre Diesel engine mated to 5 speed manual gearbox was on offer with 63 BHP of power and 160 NM of maximum torque.While the Micra Active was available with only petrol engine.

Nissan Sunny was launched a year after Micra was first launched in India, that is, 2011.It got a update in the form of facelift 6 long years after, in the year 2017.The Japanese sedan has been a competitive offering but due to increasing competition and lack of major updates, it wasn’t available to get that much response in the market.

It was offered with 1.5 litre petrol engine (98 bhp / 134 nm) with CVT gearbox and 1.5 litre diesel mill (85 bhp / 200 nm) with 5 speed manual transmission.

The company amplified its product offering by adding Nissan Sunny compact sedan to its product portfolio. The compact was first launched in India in 2011 and the updated version was introduced in the year 2017. Globally unveiled at the 2010 Guangzhou International Motor Show in China, the Nissan Sunny was the most spacious compact sedan on offer then. The sedan was powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The former produced 98 bhp and 134 Nm of power figures and it came mated to a CVT. The oil burner generated 85 bhp & 200 Nm. The engine was clubbed with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The carmakers will launch the Kicks BS 6 with 1.3 L turbo petrol engine once the countrywide lockdown is lifted and for August, they have planned to launch Magnite sub compact SUV at a introductory price of Rs. 5.25 L and will be highly feature rich as well.After that, Leaf EV will be brought in 2021.
