Kia Motors currently have 4 cars in their lineup – Sonet, Seltos, Carens, Carnival. The former two SUVs just saw the addition of more safety equipments in base trims while the Carens, still being fresh in the market, has begun to prove to be a big threat to the rivals.
Kia’s lineup will be expanded this year as they have couple of products slated to go on sale. Here are upcoming Kia Cars in India 2022:
Kia’s EV electric vehicle will be carmakers 5th car for the Indian market. It will be brought to our shores as a CBU and will have a price sticker of around Rs 60 lakhs or more (Ex Showroom).
Kia EV6 looks sporty yet proportionate. Front fascia features sleek triangular headlamps, sharp character lines running on bonnet. Big size tyres fills the wheel arches pretty nicely. The rear houses connected LED lights that run across the width and even extend till the wheel arches.
The cabin of Kia EV6, like any other Kia products, has a premium feel to it. Round steering with silver accent housing controls and Kia logo. Dual screen setup is followed here as well.
Centre console has controls for panoramic sunroof, drive select, heated/ventilated seats, wireless phone charging, among others.
Top features are 6 airbags, ADAS, AR heads up display, front & rear parking sensors, surround view camera, multi colour ambient light, multi zone ac, 14 speaker Meridian Surround sound, 12-inch dual screens among others.
Internationally, Kia EV comes with two battery options – 58 kWh and 77.4 kWh, both designed to be offered with RWD and 4WD, with power figuring going up as you opt from AWD trim. It also has 800V fast charging system and carmakers claims battery of EV6 can be replenished from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
New Kia Carnival looks elegant yet sporty. Front grille grows in size while the rear fascia looks futuristic, with the tail lamps becoming slimmer following the connected layout.
Step inside the cabin, you will be greeted by quite plush cabin with high quality materials. Top highlights are new steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, bigger infotainment system, new climate control panel among others. The MPV is likely to be available with 7, 8, 9 seater choices.
In terms of dimensions, Carnival will grow in every aspect and will have a new platform forming the base for the luxury people mover.
Currently powered by 2.2-litre diesel unit with 197 BHP and 440 NM of torque, Kia India will stick to this engine only with the new gen as well.
Top new expected features are 10.25” infotainment system, 360 camera, front ventilated and powered seats among others.
Kia Carnival retails between Rs 29.99 lakh and Rs 34.99 lakh (Ex showroom). The new gen will reach the dealerships by beginning of Q3 2022.
Kia Seltos updated will go on sale most probably by September 2022. Currently priced between Rs 10.19 lakh and Rs 18.45 lakh, one can expect around Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 hike with the facelift.
It has been spied testing on international soil multiple times. Expected exterior updates are – slightly changed headlamp design, tweaked front and rear bumper, new front grille and all new designed alloy wheels.
On the inside, the SUV will gain multi colour ambient light, digital cluster while the overall environment theme is expected to remain the same.
Dimensions and platform will not undergo any change. Engine options – 1.5 Petrol with MT, iMT, iVT, 1.4 Turbo Petrol with MT & DCT and 1.5 Diesel with MT & AT – will see addition of iMT in diesel, other combinations will be on offer like now.
