Tata 45X will be a premium hatchback that will rival Maruti Baleno Facelift and recently updated new Elite i20.Baleno recently received update in the form of new features add-on, cosmetic changes and i20 has been upgraded in 2019 with new features and more standard safety features to meet the new safety regulations.
In order to rival such tough competitors, Maruti Baleno which averages at 17,000 units per month and Elite i20 which eats 13,000 sales per month, Tata needs to bring something very special in it’s upcoming 45X hatchback.
Tata has recently launched it’s Harrier SUV and yes it stood upto the expectations of Tata Motors.Bagging around 16,000 bookings, Harrier is on 3 months of waiting period.Tata has been developing some class leading products in the recent months and some more in the pipeline.
Tata has recently introduced JTP version of Tiago and Tiger JTP and is moving on the way to bring the performance variant of Nexon as well.Tata Motors is planning to bring Honda City, Ciaz Facelift rival in the form of a premium sedan in 2020.7-seater Harrier is also slated for late 2019 launch.
Tata already has two electric vehicles available for government services in the form of Tiago and Tigor EV and Tata Motors India Limited is likely to introduce these two electric cars in the coming months as well.A few months back, a report emerged according to which Tata is preparing to launch mild hybrid petrol engine in Nexon SUV.
This new mild hybrid engine will be introduced first in upcoming Tata 45X hatchback and then will make way to other Tata’s including Tata Nexon, Tata Tiago and upcoming Tata micro SUV, Hornbill.The other engine of 45X will be a 1.5-litre Diesel engine that also powers the Tata Nexon.This powerful unit makes 260 NM of massive torque.
At the time of launch in India, Tata 45X will get BS-VI ready engines.Tata 45X will get automatic transmission for the petrol variant and since it will be a mild hybrid engine, we expect that it will deliver high fuel efficiency.Like the Tiago and Tigor JTP, Tata may also opt the same for it’s 45X hatchback but is only expected in 2020.No EV is expected for 45X hatchback.
Tata 45X which is about to get a name is expected to be launched in India by August 2019.The starting price of Tata 45X will be Rs. 5 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).At this price bracket, it will undercut the 2019 Baleno Facelift and Elite i20 premium hatchbacks by quite a margin.
Tata 45X premium hatchback will be a 5-seater hatchback and is expected to get class leading specifications as well.It will have a boot space of more than 300-litres and ground clearance of 175 mm.The upcoming 45X premium car has been spied a number of times testing on the Indian roads.And yes, this was also the car which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 as well.
Tata 45X exterior will draw inspiration from Harrier.Upfront, it will sport Tata’s humanity grille with stylish projector headlamps setup.With sloping roof line, it will ride on 16-inch alloys.Tail lamp design will be exactly similar to Harrier with reflectors on the big rear bumper.
Like the Harrier, Tata will provide premium and plush interiors for 45X hatchback.It will surely be a dual tone upholstery with adequate use of leather elements.Infotainment system will be a floating island type placed on the top of the dash.While the controls for the system will be below the hazard lamp button.Steering wheel will be a typical Tata with all the controls.
Talking about the features, it will get projector headlamps with LED DRLs, auto headlamps, tilt and telescopic steering, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs,
Safety Features like Rear Parking Sensors, ABS with EBD, Front Dual Airbags, Front Seat Belts with Pretensioner and Load Limiter, Engine Immobilizer will be provided from the base variant with the top model offering 6 airbags, rear demister, front fog lamps, reverse parking camera and auto dimming IRVM.
