Tata Motors deal with Uber: Everything you need to know!
Tata Motors and Uber on Monday have signed a deal at Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) where Tata will deliver 25,000 XPRES-T EVs to Uber Fleeting Partners in a phased manner, starting this month. Uber will make use of the XPRES-T for cab services across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.
The goal of both the companies is for clean and green environment and Uber has committed to 100% of rides taking place in zero-emission vehicle, or with micro-mobility by 2040. So far, Tata has rolled out more than 50,000 EVs from its plant in the passenger and fleet segments.
Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said, “Offering customers our environmentally friendly EV ride experiences via Uber’s Premium Category service, will accelerate the adoption of green and clean personal ride sharing. The XPRES-T EV is a very attractive option both for customers and for operators. While enhanced safety, silent and premium in cabin experience provides the customers with a relaxed ride, the fast charging solution, driving comfort and the cost effectiveness of the EV makes it an attractive business proposition for our fleet partners.”
Tata XPRES-T: What is XPRES-T?
Tata launched the XPRES-T EV in July 2021 is for fleet customers. It comes with a 26 kWh and 25.5 kWh battery pack with a range of 315 km and 277 km and can be charged from 0 – 80% in 59 minutes and 110 minutes through DC chargers or from a 15A charging point. Uber will be getting the long range version. It comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD as standard, automatic climate control, and blue accents in the interior and exterior styling.
Lastly, the pricing, the 26 kWh XPRES-T costs Rs. 14.98 lakhs (ex-showroom) with subsidy of Rs. 2.6 lakhs under the FAME II scheme.
