Tata Nexon Electric Range and Connected Car Features Revealed

Tata Nexon Electric will be among one of the electric cars to be launched in this year.This month only MG’s eZS will be launched in the country on January 27.Tata Nexon Electric has already been revealed in December 2019 and is slated to be launched in January 2020 before Auto Expo.

Tata Nexon EV will be offered with connected car technology which will be controlled by the App ZConnect.Through this, the owners can remotely monitor the current charge level, total available range, charging history, nearest charging stations and more.Along with this, the customers car remotely pre cool the car, remote lock and unlock, lamp control as well as horn activation.Location based services will also be on offer including sharing location, locating nearest charging station, locating Tata’s service centre and contacting the technical support using the ZConnect app.

The ZConnect app also give notifications like instant crash notification, emergency SOS message and panic notifications.The owners can also contact Tata’s 24×7 call centre and use the remote immobilisation service in case of car theft.

The app also sends notification of geo fencing, time fence limits, harsh braking, acceleration among others.Any breach of these will send you a notification.This app is likely to be be featured also in upcoming Nexon facelift which will also boast all the features of connected car technology except those made for the electric vehicles.

Tata Nexon is powered by Ziptron technology and will have ARAI certified range of 312 km on a full battery charge.The 30.2 kWh battery pack in Nexon electric producing 129 PS and 245 NM of torque has been tested over 1 million kilometres in a different types of Indian roads and also in all the weather conditions and the lithium ion battery pack of Nexon EV is IP67 rated.The battery if put through a fast charger can be juiced upto 80% in less than an hour while if you use a standard AC charger, then it would consume around 6-8 hours to charge.

There is a complete peace of mind as the battery pack comes with 8 years and 1,60,000 km warranty.The Nexon can accelerate from 0-60kmph in around 4.6 sec while it can do 0-100kmph in 9.9 seconds which is pretty quick.

Like the last year, Tata Motors have plans to introduce a number of models in the domestic market.The brand will announce the pricing of Altroz hatchback at the official launch of January 22.Along with this, the updated versions of Nexon, Tiago and Tigor are on the way to be launched in the end of this month.

Tata will launch Nexon electric in India on January 28 a day after the MG’s electric ZS SUV will be officially launched.Bookings for Nexon EV are already open at a token sum of Rs. 21,000.At the time of launch, Nexon EV won’t have any direct rivals since the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric falls in the price bracket of Rs. 25 Lakhs but for Nexon electric, Tata will launch the EV SUV between Rs. 15 Lakhs and Rs. 17 Lakhs (Ex Showroom).However, it will be joined by a new rival in 2021 in the form of XUV300 EV which was earlier expected to hit the showroom in the second half of the same year.

Tata Motors will also showcase a number of new, facelift as well as BS6 models at the Auto Expo 2020.Production versions of H2X SUV, Gravitas, Harrier BS6, Altroz electric will be amongst the long range of Tata cars to be showcased at the event.
