The results of the crash test of Tata Tiago and Tigor Facelift have been announced on the day of launch of the updated variants of these two cars.
Tata Motors have updated their Tiago and Tigor lineup with BS6 petrol engine and interior and exterior styling updates.It was recently only when Altroz scores a perfect 5 stars in Global NCAP and not to forget the Nexon compact SUV which also secured full 5 stars and Tata Motors has got another feather in their cap by grabbing 4 stars rating for Tata Tiago and Tigor.
The four stars rating of the hatchback and compact sedan is for adult occupant protection.The total score of Tiago and Tigor in this category out of potential 17 points was 12.52.The cars body steel integrity was rated to be unstable and not further able to take load.Global NCAP, in this particular category particularly mentioned footwell are while the head and neck protection of the front passengers was rated good.Tiago and Tigor offered adequate protection for the knees as well.
In the area of child occupant protection, the Tata Cars scores a 3 stars rating with a total score of 34.15 out of maximum 49 points.It is important to mention that both these cars are not offered with ISOFIX child sea mounts and 3 pointer seatbelts for the rear occupants, but still it managed to score 3 stars and both these modes had dual frontal airbags.The protection of 3 year old child dummy was considered to be good.To prevent the excessive forward movement at the time of impact, the dummy was installed with adult seatbelt and support leg.
The facelifted versions of Tiago and Tigor have been launched in India today with BS6 compliant petrol engines and for the small cars, Tata is moving away from the Diesel engines and both these Tata models are now petrol only offering.They derive a number of styling elements from Altroz and carries the Impact 2.0 design language.The overall price of the BS6 trims of Tiago and Tigor facelift is on the premium side compared to the pre-facelift BS4 variants.The upcoming Tata’s mini suv codenamed H2X will also be a petrol only offering and will be based on the same ALFA architecture which also underpins the Tata Altroz.
The Made in India are performing really well in the Global NCAP safety test.Tata Altroz and Nexon posted 5 stars in this test while the two newly tested Tata Cars, including Tiago and Tigor earned 4 stars in the same.While also the recently tested, India-spec Mahindra XUV300 also secured a perfect 5 stars in Global NCAP with the highest overall scores when compared to Tata Altroz and Nexon.
The facelifted Tata Tiago, Tigor and Nexon have just been launched in India and each of these are in a BS6 formats and each follow Tata’s new Impact Design 2.0 language. Bookings have opened and prices will be higher than that seen on their BS4 counterparts. The Nexon facelift continues with its 1.2 liter turbo petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine lineup while the Tiago and Tigor current 1.2 liter petrol engine gets upgraded to BS6 emission standards. The diesel engines on Tiago and Tigor have been done away with as Tata Motors has decided to take off small diesel engines from its lineup.
