Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the Indian market despite the declining sales with two Hyundai Cars making it to the list.
1. Maruti Dzire – 13,274 units
Maruti Dzire is the best selling sedan in its class and has also managed to claim the top spot in terms of sales frequently.When compared to July sales, it has gone up slightly and total units sold are 13,274 in the month of august 2019.It is also the top selling car in India as of August.Dzire is offered with two engine options with the availability of both manual and amt options in petrol and diesel.
2. Maruti Swift – 12,444 units
Next up comes Swift which comes at number 2 position.Like Dzire, it is also offered with 1.2 L petrol BS-VI engine and 1.3 litre Diesel engine.It comes in hatchback segment and rivals the likes of Tata Tiago, newly launched Grand i10 NIOS, Ford Figo.It would be interesting to see how the sales of Swift fares after the launch of Grand i10 NIOS.
3. Maruti Wagon R – 11,402 units
Maruti Wagon R was the highest selling car in the month of July 2019, however, in August, its sales has declined by around 4,000 units and cam down to 11,402 in the past month.It is the third Maruti car in the list and also grabs the 3rd position.Wagon R competes vs Hyundai Santro, and Maruti Celerio.
4. Maruti Baleno – 11,067 units
Maruti Baleno has taken 4th spot in this list and the sales have come down to 11,067.Averaging at 15,000 units per month, Baleno sales have reduced along a number of other cars who also are facing the heat.Currently it is selling much more than it rivals and shares competition vs Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Toyota Glanza.
5. Maruti Alto – 10,123 units
The Alto twins which used to dominate the list every time have come down to 10,123 units in the month of August 2019.Alto is offered at a very competitive price and is extremely fuel efficient as well.The main rivals of Alto includes Renault Kwid and Datsun Go.In September, Renault will be bringing their Kwid facelift which will surely threaten up the crown of Maruti Alto.
6. Hyundai Grand i10 – 9,403 units
Hyundai Grand i10 is back in the top 10 selling cars list in August 2019 thanks to Grand i10 NIOS.This is the combined sales figures of Hyundai Grand i10 and Grand i10 NIOS.Grand i10 NIOS is offered with 1.2 litre BS-6 compliant petrol engine as well as 1.2 litre Diesel engine with the option of both MT and AMT for both the units.The excellent start of Grand i10 NIOS in India is also due to the quite a few class leading features on offer.
7. Hyundai Venue – 9,342 units
Venue is the top selling sub compact SUV for a couple of months as of now.None of its competitors are close to Venue sales in the past few months.It has toppled Vitara Brezza in the last month to become the no. 1 compact SUV in India.In August, the sales of Venue is 9,342 units and is the 2nd Hyundai car making it to the list.Rivals of Hyundai Venue includes Maruti Vitara Brezza, Honda WRV, Tata Nexon, and Ford EcoSport.
8. Maruti Eeco – 8,658 units
Maruti Eeco is making to the list for the last few months and is ranked 8th in this list in August.It is one of the eight Maruti cars making it to the list.It is selling more than Maruti Ertiga and the total sales of Eeco in August 2019 is 8,658 units.
9. Maruti Ertiga – 8,391 units
Ertiga has been very consistent with its high sales figures.Thanks to 2nd generation update, Ertiga is making to top 10 list nearly everytime.This 7 seater MPV comes available with BS-VI compliant 1.5 litre petrol engine and also 1.5 litre Diesel engine as well along with the option of CNG trim for Vxi model.Maruti Ertiga gets a very competitive price tag and rivals the likes of Renault Lodgy and Honda BR-V.
10. Maruti Vitara Brezza – 7,109 units
In the last month only, Vitara Brezza was out of this list with around 5000 units sold in the same month.Now the SUV is back with 7,109 units being retailed in the month of August 2019.It is the 2nd highest selling sub4-metre SUV and ranks 10th in the top 10 selling cars in India in the month of August 2019.Currently offered with 1.3-litre Diesel engine, Brezza will soon be getting a facelift variant in December 2019 along with 1.2 litre and 1.5 litre petrol engines.
