Toyota Fortuner Facelift Spied for the first time, India Launch in 2021

Toyota Fortuner has been the best selling SUV in its segment since a long time.Averaging at 1,500 units per month, the Toyota SUV has set the pace for carmakers.Fortuner has always been a consistent performer for Toyota along with Innova Crysta.

Recently, for the first time, the facelift version of Toyota Fortuner has been spied testing in Thailand and was under heavy camouflage.But still some design tweaks can easily be seen.Upfront, the radiator grille as well as bumpers looks to be quite similar to RAV4 SUV.The headlamps will look much more sharper now while the tail lamps will have more LED elements.Front and rear bumpers will be restyled.Apart from the addition of newly designed alloys for the top spec trim, the sides remain unchanged.

Interior of the Fortuner facelift will feature an all new seat upholstery.Only new feature here would be a  new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and android auto support.This time around it will surely be getting a sunroof as well.

Under the hood, Fortuner Facelift will get the same set of engine as powering the present Fortuner model.Currently, Toyota Fortuner comes in 2.8 litre Diesel engine with power and torque figures of 177 PS @ 420 NM with 6 speed manual and for the 6 speed automatic, the torque figures jump to 450 NM.All wheel drive system is offered in the diesel variant of Fortuner.The petrol engine is 2.7 litre 4 cylinder unit with option of 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic with output figures of 166 PS and 245 NM.

Toyota Fortuner is yet to get the BS6 compliant engines.Recently, Toyota updated its Innova Crysta to Bharat Stage 6 where the MPV lost its bigger 2.8 L Diesel engine and 2.7 L petrol and 2.4 L Diesel engine being upgraded to the latest emission norms.

The facelifted model of Fortuner is expected to be unveiled in the second half of the year.With the facelift, the prices would go up by a slight margin.Along with this, Toyota is also planning to bring CNG trims in Innova Crysta and Yaris to boost up the sales.

Facelift Fortuner will find the competition with a number of similar rivals including Ford Endeavour which will soon get a new BSVI Diesel engine, Mahindra Alturas G4, Honda CR-V, Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tiguan and upcoming MG D90.
