We’ve seen Mahindra testing the Thar 5-Door Multiple Times on roads revealing interesting details, but now the off-road adventurous SUV has been spied again revealing the presence of dual-pane sunroof. Here’s everything you need to know!
Mahindra Thar 5-Door with Dual-Pane Sunroof: All Details!
Up until now, we’ve seen multiple test mules of Mahindra Thar 5-Door with single-pane sunroof making us think that it may be available with the top-spec variant only, but a new spy shot has confirmed the presence of dual-pane sunroof [or Skyroof as Mahindra likes to call it] indicating it’ll be exclusive to the top-spec trims only, while the mid variants will get single-pane sunroof.

The dual-pane sunroof is not seen on any SUVs in India built on ladder-frame chassis, and barely any SUVs internationally. However, it’s worth noting that Mahindra may be testing a soft-top version of the SUV as the roof appears to be kind-of hollow in spy shot. Mahindra looks like its going all-out on offering a best lifestyle adventurous and it’s possible there may be two options available on launch – Hard Top Roof with Single and Dual-Pane Sunroof, and Soft-Top Roof.
Mechanically, the SUV is set to get 3 Engine Options – 2.2 L Diesel, 2.0 L Turbo Petrol, and the 1.5 L Diesel Engine. The 1.5 L Diesel engine will be restricted likely upto the mid-variants with Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) as available option only. The other two engine will get both 4×4 and RWD options.
The Thar 5 Door will launch in the coming months with pricing expected to be slightly above the Big Daddy of SUVs, the Scorpio-N. Upon its launch, it’ll compete with the likes of Maruti Jimny and the newly launched, Force Gurkha 5-Door.
