Mahindra Auto Global recently posted images on Instagram featuring three South African cricket legends — Jonty Rhodes, Allan Donald, and Reeza Hendricks — taking delivery of their customised Mahindra XUV700 SUVs. These are not the regular variants seen on Indian roads. Each SUV is personalised with unique branding for the players. In the video shared by Mahindra South Africa, Jonty Rhodes is seen receiving the keys to his XUV700, while Donald and Hendricks stand beside their newly delivered SUVs.

SUV Line-up in South Africa

Mahindra currently sells three major SUVs in the South African market — the XUV 3XO, XUV700, and the rugged Scorpio N. Each model caters to a different segment of buyers. The XUV 3XO is a compact SUV ideal for urban use, the XUV700 focuses on premium family comfort with modern features, while the Scorpio N is built for off-road capability and tough terrains.

Mahindra Pik-Up Range in South Africa

In addition to SUVs, Mahindra also offers two utility-focused Pik-Up trucks — available in Single Cab and Double Cab formats. These pickups are widely used in commercial and semi-urban sectors thanks to their strong build, powerful diesel engines, and practical load-carrying capabilities. The Pik-Up trucks have also played a major role in strengthening Mahindra’s brand reputation in South Africa.

XUV700: Mahindra’s Flagship ICE SUV

The Mahindra XUV700 is the most advanced internal combustion SUV in the brand’s portfolio. It has already crossed over 2.5 lakh units in sales, indicating strong demand. The SUV is loaded with features like a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable driver seat with memory, ventilated seats, a large infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS, and more.

Engine Options and Performance

The XUV700 is offered with two engine options. The 2.0 L turbo-petrol engine produces 197 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. The 2.2 L Diesel is available in two tunes — 152 bhp and 360 Nm for lower variants and 181 bhp and 450 Nm for higher variants. Buyers can choose between 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The top-spec diesel variant also gets an optional AWD system for better off-road performance.

Pricing in India

In the Indian market, the Mahindra XUV700 is priced from Rs. 14.49 lakh to Rs. 25.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Its aggressive pricing, combined with premium features and strong performance, makes it one of the most sought-after SUVs in its segment — both in India and abroad.
