The upcoming SUV has been spotted closing, giving us a look at its updated design and expected features.

Kia is working on the next-generation Seltos, and test mules have been spotted multiple times across South Korea and India. The 2nd Gen Seltos will follow the brand’s updated global design language and pack in major upgrades across styling, features, and technology. With a more premium appeal, the SUV is set to take on the fast-growing midsize SUV segment with stronger competition.

New Kia Seltos Exterior Design

The latest spy shots from South Korea show the front, side, and rear of the SUV, though it’s still covered in camouflage. Earlier sightings in India with less covering have already shown some key design changes. It gets new vertically stacked, thunderbolt-style LED DRLs placed beside, new LED headlamps which now look a lot the Creta’s Quad-Beam LED Headlamps.

A new telluride-inspired grille sits in the centre, and there’s a radar unit in the lower bumper— part of the ADAS setup. On the lower corners, we can now see the fog lamps as well.. At the back, a full-width connected LED light bar links the redesigned tail-lamps, a design inspired by the EV5. The alloy wheels can be seen with a new design which are expected to be 18 inches, like the current GT Line and X-Line variants.

Interior and Features

The interior hasn’t been shown yet, but major upgrades are expected. This may include a large 30-inch Trinity Display like the one seen in the Syros, a new dashboard layout, better seat materials, and advanced safety features.

New features may include:

  • Ventilated rear seats
  • Sliding and reclining rear seats
  • New 2-spoke Double D-Cut steering wheel
  • Powered Tailgate
  • Co-Driver Powered Passenger Seat

Engine Options

The new Seltos is expected to carry forward the same engine options as the current model:

  • 1.5L NA Petrol (113 bhp, 144 Nm) (6 Speed MT, IVT)
  • 1.5L Turbo Petrol (158 bhp, 253 Nm) (6 Speed iMT, 7 Speed DCT)
  • 1.5L Turbo Diesel (114 bhp, 250 Nm) (6 Speed MT / AT)

A new strong hybrid option will likely be introduced with the 1.5L NA petrol engine.  Both manual and automatic gearboxes will continue.

Launch and Rivals

While Kia hasn’t confirmed the official launch date, the 2nd Gen Seltos is expected to debut by late 2025 or early 2026. It may be sold alongside the current model but positioned as a more premium offering just like how Kia did with Carens and Carens Clavis.

Rivals will include Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Tata Curvv, and others.
