This new SUV will have chaotic effects in the segment which will result in increase competition.
Maruti Suzuki’s new and first-ever electric SUV, eVitara is set to launch soon in India to give competition to its main rival in the ICE segment, Hyundai Creta EV. Let’s take a look at how Maruti has packed their SUV –
How’s the Design?
The Maruti eVitara boasts a bold and rugged design aimed at delivering a strong road presence. It features sleek LED headlamps, unique 3-piece LED DRLs, a muscular bumper, and a sculpted bonnet. The side profile is enhanced by polygonal wheel arches, thick body cladding, door mouldings, and blacked-out B and C pillars with rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar. The top variants are equipped with sporty 18-inch alloy wheels designed to improve aerodynamics. Completing the look are a slightly tapering roofline, a shark fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler, a raked rear windshield, edgy wraparound taillamps, and a chunky rear bumper.
Inside, the Maruti eVitara offers a fresh and modern cabin layout, setting it apart from other Maruti models. It comes equipped with a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.1-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The cabin also features a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, rectangular AC vents with brushed silver surrounds, and tactile physical buttons for climate control. Adding to the comfort and premium appeal, the SUV uses a combination of fabric and leatherette upholstery for the seats.
What are its Battery Specifications?
The Maruti eVitara is built on a skateboard platform (codename: 40PL) co-developed with Toyota and will be offered with 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs using LFP ‘blade’ cells from BYD. Both variants feature front-axle mounted motors, producing 141bhp and 170bhp respectively, with identical torque output of 192.5Nm. While Maruti has not revealed full range figures yet, the 61kWh version is confirmed to deliver an MIDC-certified range of over 500km. Under its ‘e for Me’ strategy, Maruti will install fast chargers at dealerships in the top 100 cities, launch a dedicated EV charging app, and set up over 1,500 EV-specific service centres across more than 1,000 cities.
