The month of May 2023 was a good month where many carmakers posted good and positive sales numbers over the previous year. But out of the top 10 cars in May 2023, Maruti Suzuki dominates it with 7 cars in the top 10, 2 cars are from the Tata Motors, and one is from the Hyundai Motors.

Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback, Baleno, dominates the sales as the best-selling car of India in May 2023. At No.1 position, the Baleno has done sales of 18,733 units in May 2023 which is 34.09% year-on-year growth over the 13,970 units in May 2022 with volume growth by 4,763 units. Maruti had launched the new Baleno in 2022 with some amazing features that isn’t necessarily required. Up next at 2nd position is another Maruti Suzuki hatchback, Swift, that has done sales of 17,346 units in May 2023 which is up by 22.73% from the 14,133 units in May 2022 with volume growth by 3,213 units. The Swift was updated in 2021 and no new features was introduced other than the front updating with a chrome element at the center of the grille.

At 3rd position is another hatchback from Maruti Suzuki, Wagon R, that reported sales of 16,258 units in May 2023 over the 16,814 units in May 2022 with year-on-year decline by 3.31% and reduction in volume by 556 units. Hyundai Motors is at 4th position with it’s mid-size SUV, Creta, that continues to rope in big numbers in the SUV segment. It has done sales of 14,449 units in May 2023 which is up by 31.68% from the 10,973 units in May 2023. The Creta is a big spacious SUV that feels luxurious from the inside, and it’s got good amount of features on offer.

Tata Motors is at 5th position with it’s SUV, Nexon, that has done sales of 14,423 units in May 2023 which is decline in sales by 1.31% over the 14,614 units and volume de-growth by 191 units in May 2022. Tata Nexon dominates the compact SUV segment because of the features, and crazy safety it has to offer making people buy the Nexon over other SUVs. Tata Nexon will be getting the facelift update in August 2023 with productions beginning from July 2023. Maruti Brezza at sixth position reports 13,398 units in May 2023 over the 10,312 units in May 2022 with a year-on-year growth by 29.93% and volume growth by 3,086 units. Maruti Brezza has been really good in sales as it even bagged No.1 position in sales in the previous months.

Maruti Suzuki’s MUV, Eeco, stands at 7th position with sales of 12,818 units which is up by 22.29% against the 10,312 units in May 2022 with volume growth by 2,336 units. The Dzire reports dip in sales from the 11,603 units in May 2022 to 11,315 units in May 2023 with a decline year-on-year growth by 2.48%. Tata Punch puts on positive results in SUV as it reports sales of 11,124 units in May 2023 which has increased by 8.62% year-on-year over the 10,241 units. Lastly, the Maruti Suzuki’s MUV, Ertiga roped in 10,528 units in May 2023 which is down by 13.89% from the 12,226 units in May 2022.
