Honda Elevate against the Mahindra XUV300

Honda had globally premiered the Elevate SUV in June but is yet to announce the pricing of the SUV. However, we know everything about the SUV and we thought of comparing it against the Mahindra XUV300 to see if the Elevate is worth buying over the XUV300!

Honda Elevate vs Mahindra XUV300 – Design

From the outside, the Elevate has a front grille with small rectangular blocks pattern on it with Honda logo at the center, LED headlamps and two round fog lamps underneath, a large chrome element that connects with the headlamps, and a flat bonnet with few cuts and creases. The bumpers are finished in faux silver skid plate. The Elevate share’s the design cues with the HR-V SUV that is sold overseas. Moving to the side, it has slightly flared wheel arches for a chunky SUV, chrome door handles, non-functional roof rails, and rides on 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, it has a L-shaped LED taillamps with dual lines inside them, roof spoiler on top with shark fin antenna, and an indentation around the number plate housing.

The XUV300 has a halogen headlamps with grille that rectangular chrome blocks on it and the fog lamps is a halogen as well. The bumpers at the front and the rear are finished in faux silver skid plate with four chrome line above the bumpers. Moving to the side profile, it has roof rails on the top that looks functional, with simple design and cladding on the doors as it rides on 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear side, it small spoiler with high mount stop lamp, LED taillamps, and rear wipers on the rear windscreen.

From the inside, it has a 10.25-inch free-standing infotainment system with rectangular AC vents below and at the sides, and below the automatic climate control is the wireless charging pad and two USB charging ports next to it on the right, and below that is two cupholders. The Elevate uses soft touch leather materials on the dashboard, leather for the seats, and on the doors. The Elevate has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with 7-inch instrument cluster as well. The push start/stop button is placed on the left next to the infotainment system behind the steering wheel. Moving to the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio and has 8-speaker surround sound system.

The XUV300 has a 7-inch infotainment system placed between the AC vents and has sort of curved-square shape AC Vents positioned horizontally. It has the option for the dual-tone dashboard. The XUV300 has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with analog instrument cluster and TFT display between the analog dials, and a single-pane sunroof. It has a rotary dial to control the HVAC function of the car. It has two USB ports at the front and no USB ports at the rear. The rear seats are split in 60:40 ratio. It has the 6-speaker sound system as well.

So, from the outside and inside, the Elevate looks way better from the outside than the XUV300 as it gives you spacious and premium vibes, and from the inside, it looks very modern and premium while the XUV300 is in dire need of an update.

In terms of Dimensions, the Honda Elevate measures 4312mm in length, 1790mm in width, and 1650mm in height. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV300 has a length of 3995mm which is 317mm shorter, width of 1821mm that is wider by 31mm, and height of 1627mm that is shorter by 23mm. The Elevate features wheelbase of 2650mm, ground clearance of 220mm, and boot space of 458 litres where as the XUV300 features wheelbase of 2600mm that is shorter by 50mm, ground clearance of 180mm that is lower by 40mm, and boot space of 257 litres which is smaller by 201 litres.

When it comes to Powertrains, both the SUVs comes with a normal petrol powertrain. The Elevate is powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine that pumps out 119.34 bhp and 145 Nm of torque paired to 6-speed Manual Gearbox and an Advanced CVT Gearbox. The Mahindra XUV300 on the other hand is powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 108.62 bhp and 200 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox.

The Mahindra XUV300 gets another powertrain, the turbo diesel powertrain something the Elevate SUV won’t get. The Mahindra XUV300 gets the 1.2-litre turbo diesel engine puts out 115.05 bhp and 300 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox. The Manual has a fuel efficiency of 20.1 kmpl and the automatic has a fuel efficiency of 19.5 kmpl.

The Mahindra XUV300 gets another powertrain, the turbo petrol powertrain something the Elevate SUV should’ve got. The XUV300 that has the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that puts out 128.37 bhp and 230 Nm of torque paired to the 6-speed Manual Gearbox with fuel efficiency of 18.24 kmpl.

In Features, the XUV300 misses out on Wireless Charging Pad, 8-speaker sound system, bigger infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, and LED Projector headlamps where as the Elevate misses out on Auto-Dimming IRVM.

The Mahindra XUV300 starts at Rs. 8.41 lakh for the ‘W4’ base variant and goes up to Rs. 14.59 lakh for the ‘W8 (O) AMT’ Diesel variant where as the Honda Elevate is expected to start at Rs. 12 lakh for the base ‘SV’ variant.

As for the warranty, the Elevate has a warranty period of 3 years/1,00,000 km that can be extended up to 5 years/unlimited km and the XUV300 warranty period is 3 years/1,00,000 km and can be extended up to 5 years/1,50,000 kms.

In the end, the decision to buy which SUV depends totally on you, however, it is recommended to opt for the Honda Elevate as the SUV feels very modern than the XUV300, feature-loaded, very spacious, and good engine performance as well. The Mahindra XUV300 has a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, comes with almost the same features as the Elevate SUV, and the engine is powerful and efficient than the Elevate SUV. So, if you’ve a bigger SUV requirement, then we suggest you to wait for the Elevate SUV launch, otherwise you can go ahead and book the Mahindra XUV300. So, which SUV are you going to buy?
