
Honda on Tuesday unveiled the made-in-India Elevate SUV with plans to launch the electric version of this SUV along with five new SUVs by 2030!
Honda’s new roadmap for India
The President and CEO of Honda Cars, Takuya Tsumura said, “We’ve planned a very robust product strategy for India. We plan to have five SUVs by 2030. While India will be a lead market for the Elevate, it’ll also be a key export hub for the model in the future. Honda Cars also plans to bring the electric version of Elevate to the market in the next three years.” Earlier this year, Honda had revealed it’s plans which will see them introducing one new model every year in India which includes Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.
Honda Elevate bookings will begin from next month and will launch during the festive season. Since it’s a mid-size SUV, it’ll rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Toyota Hyryder. According to Honda, the Elevate will be the third key pillar for Indian Market after the City and the Amaze which will help build and increase their presence faster.
“Despite significant challenges, India has proven it’s strengths and continues to remain the fastest growing market in the world. We’ve a huge popularity in the sedan segment (City and Amaze) and hope to translate that into the SUV segment. Elevate is the perfect urban SUV,” added by the President and CEO of Honda Cars, Takuya Tsumura. The Elevate SUV will be manufactured at it’s Tapukara, Rajasthan, with the manufacturing capacity being increased to 660 vehicles per day from 540 vehicles Q1 of 2023.
Lastly, Honda Cars has 326 outlets or dealerships across the 238 cities of India, and says that the company’s current offerings are gaining substantial popularity in smaller cities. Moreover, the Tier 3 cities accounts to about 30% of it’s total sales in India. Honda Elevate to launch in India, and will be exported to international markets from here at a later date.
