Hyundai Creta leads the SUVs segment again in May 2023 finishing just ahead of Tata Nexon, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza by just a small margin of units!

Hyundai Motors India mid-size SUV, Creta, once again dominates the SUV segment by being the most sold SUV in India and showcasing improved sales growth everytime. Being at No.1 position, it reports sales of 14,499 units in May 2023 which is up by 32.13% over the 10,973 units in May 2022. Hyundai Creta continues to be preferred in the mid-size SUV segment even though there are other SUV’s with better features than Creta, but people love the Creta given how spacious and luxurious it feels.

At 2nd position is the Tata Nexon with sales of 14,423 units in May 2023 which is decline in sales by 1.31% over the 14,614 units in May 2022. Tata Nexon dominates the compact SUV segment because of the features, and crazy safety it has to offer making people buy the Nexon over other SUVs. Tata Nexon will be getting the facelift update in August 2023 with productions beginning from July 2023. Maruti Brezza at third position reports 13,398 units in May 2023 over the 10,312 units in May 2022 with a year-on-year growth by 29.93%. Maruti Brezza has been really good in sales as it even bagged No.1 position in sales in the previous months.

Tata Punch, an alternate to Nexon did sales of 11,124 units in May 2023 which is up by 8.62% from the 10,241 units in May 2022. Tata Motors will be launching an i-CNG version of the Punch possibly in July 2023, and electric version of the Punch is in works with launch before the end of this year. Hyundai Venue at 5th position saw sales of 10,213 units in May 2023 against the 8,300 units in May 2022 with a year-on-year growth by 23.05%. Hyundai Venue when it got a facelift update got a mixed reaction as some like the design from the outside, and some didn’t.

Maruti Fronx and Maruti Grand Vitara reported sales of 9,863 units and 8,877 units respectively as both weren’t available last year given the Fronx launched in April 2023, and Grand Vitara launched in September 2022. The Mahindra Scorpio which is a combine sales figures for Scorpio-N, and Scorpio Classic, reported sales of 9,318 units in May 2023 which is up by 114.31% from the 4,348 units in May 2022. The Kia Sonet and the Mahindra XUV700 also reports positive year-on-year growth of 4.46% and 3.47% respectively.
