
Hyundai just revealed the name for it’s upcoming all-new SUV, and it’s going to be badged as Exter in India and it’ll be based on the i10 Nios. So, here’s a comparison of the Exter and i10 Nios.
Exter vs i10 Nios – Design
The Exter is based on the Grand i10 Nios platform, and the design of the new sub-compact SUV is taken from the Hyundai’s Casper model that is available in South Korea. It comes with round-shaped projector headlamps, LED DRLS, and parametric front grille. At the rear, the Exter gets parametric tail lights with 15-inch alloys wheels.
The i10 Nios has a larger grille with redone front bumper, and the new tri-arrow LED DRLs. There are no changes in the headlamps and the sides except now at the rear it gets an LED light bar that connects the two taillamps.

As you can tell by looking at the table, there are little difference in dimensions between the two cars. The Exter has a length of 3595mm whereas the i10 Nios as length of 3815mm with 220mm difference in length. The Exter has a width of 1595mm while the i10 Nios has a width of 1680mm with a difference of 85mm. The height of the Exter is 1575mm which is 55mm more than the 1520mm height of i10 Nios.
Even though the Exter is based on the i10 Nios platform, it still has a wheelbase 2400mm which is less than the i10 Nios wheelbase of 2450mm. The ground clearance of the Exter is not known as of yet, but the i10 Nios has 165mm ground clearance. The Exter has a 301 litres boot space which is more than 260 litre boot space offered in the i10 Nios. The i10 Nios has a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres and CNG tank of 60 litres while the Exter has a fuel tank of 35 litres. The Kerb and Gross Weight of the Exter is not revealed by Hyundai yet, but the i10 Nios has 935 kg kerb weight and 1,380kg gross vehicle weight.

The Hyundai Exter comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 81.8 bhp and 113.8 Nm of torque paired to a 5-speed Manual Transmission, and 5-speed Automatic Transmission with expected fuel efficiency of 20.1 km/l. It’ll also get one additional petrol engine which is 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that puts out 120 bhp and 172 Nm of torque paired to 5-speed Manual Transmission and 7-speed DCT Transmission and expected fuel efficiency of 18 km/l.
The Exter could get a CNG option after it has launch, which will be the 1.2-litre Bi-Fuel which produces 67.72 bhp and 95 Nm of torque with 5-speed Manual Transmission only and no Automatic Transmission.

As you can look at the table and see, the features between the Exter and the i10 Nios will exactly be same, except the Exter will get digital instrument cluster. Since the Exter is build on the i10 Nios platform, so it might as well have the same features.

As you can see, the i10 Nios starts at Rs. 6.30 lakh for the Era variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 9.55 lakh for the Asta AMT variant. No official update on the pricing of the Exter, only name has been revealed by Hyundai, but however, more information about the car will be revealed in the coming days.
