Get Ready for that Hyundai MPV which you’ve been waiting for years to make its way to India! Hyundai is officially showcasing it at the Expo!
The Hyundai Staria, a feature-packed MPV with futuristic design elements, has been available in several global markets since 2021. Recently spotted in India, it has sparked interest, although it’s expected to debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi, rather than being immediately launched in the local market. The Staria offers a practical yet stylish option for families, with a wide range of powertrain options, advanced technology, and a highly versatile interior.
Powertrain Options and Performance
The table below provides a detailed breakdown of the engine specifications:
Globally, the Hyundai Staria is offered with multiple powertrain configurations, including a hybrid, V6 petrol, and diesel options. The hybrid version combines a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that powers the front axle. This hybrid system delivers a total power output of 242 hp and 367 Nm of torque, with the petrol engine producing 178 hp and 265 Nm and the electric motor contributing 72 hp and 304 Nm.
Compared to the 3.5L V6 petrol engine, the hybrid version is not only more powerful but also more fuel-efficient. With a weight of around 2,200 kg, the Staria stands out due to its distinctive “spaceship-inspired” design, featuring a wide grille, a horizontal LED light bar, and large glass panels that give it a minimalist yet striking appeal. The vehicle’s rear is marked by vertical LED tail lamps with pixel detailing, enhancing its futuristic appearance.
Interior and Features
‘The Staria’s interior is designed for both comfort and practicality. The Tourer variant, available as either a 9-seater or 11-seater, comes with a range of premium features, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an all-digital instrument console, and automatic climate control. It also includes a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), heated and ventilated seats, a smart key, front parking sensors, and automatic sliding doors.
The interior’s standout feature is its “relaxation mode,” which provides lounge-like seating for the second-row captain’s chairs. The Staria also prioritizes practicality with a foldable chair, a sliding cargo floor in the LCV trims, a luggage partition table, and a multi-hanger mounted on the tailgate. The vehicle is designed to make every journey comfortable, whether it’s for daily commutes or long trips.
Global Availability and Pricing
While the Hyundai Staria’s arrival in India remains uncertain, it is already available in international markets, with the Tourer variant priced at approximately ₹21.5 lakh (₩36,530,000) in South Korea. The Staria is also equipped with shift-by-wire technology and, in higher trims, an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration, adding to its versatility and appeal for a range of driving conditions.
The Staria’s combination of cutting-edge design, advanced features, and multiple powertrain options makes it a standout in the MPV segment. While Hyundai has no immediate plans for a launch in India, the upcoming debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo will offer Indian consumers a closer look at what the Staria has to offer.
