Kia will be announcing the pricing of India’s only affordable and premium electric MPV on July 15th!

Kia is set to launch the Carens Clavis EV on July 15, 2025. This will mark Kia’s first mass-market electric vehicle for India. Positioned uniquely in the market, the Carens Clavis EV will be one of only two electric MPVs currently available, with its primary competitor being the BYD eMax 7. Kia is expected to offer two battery packs which will be the same the Hyundai Creta Electric.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Highlights

Visually, the EV version of the Carens Clavis will look the same as ICE counterpart and will retain the Ice Cube MFR LED headlamps and Star Map LED DRLs with integrated turn signals as seen in the ICE version. However, the EV will feature an LED DRL connecting the headlights, which is missing in the ICE variant. New alloy wheel designs and EV-specific badging will help distinguish the electric version from its ICE counterpart. A radar module for the ADAS system has been spotted on the front center of the vehicle, unlike the ICE version where it is positioned to the side. This new placement may enhance the performance of features like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and forward collision warning by offering better sensor alignment and a wider field of view.

Inside the cabin, most features will mirror the ICE model. But it could get a large 30-inch trinity panoramic display, upgrade front ICE counterpart, front and rear ventilated seats, powered front seat, wireless charging, BOSE 8-speaker premium audio system, and ambient lighting. The EV version might also come with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, which are typically offered in advanced electric vehicles.

Powertrain

Like the upcoming Creta EV, the charging port in the Carens Clavis EV is positioned at the front center. It is expected that the Clavis EV will share the same electric powertrain options as the Creta EV, which includes two battery packs: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. These offer a range of up to 390 km and 473 km respectively, based on MIDC testing standards. The electric motor will likely be mounted on the front axle, producing 134 bhp with the standard range and 169 bhp with the long-range variant.

Safety Features

The Clavis EV will come equipped with Level 2 ADAS, featuring 20 autonomous functions. These include smart cruise control with stop and go, forward collision avoidance assist, lane departure warning, driver attention alert, and rear cross traffic alert with collision avoidance.

In terms of safety, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is expected to offer a comprehensive package including six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, vehicle stability management, and all-wheel disc brakes. Other features will include a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, and a dual-camera dash cam.

Final Thoughts

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is shaping up to be a well-rounded package in the electric MPV segment. With modern styling, a tech-rich interior, practical EV features like V2L and V2V, and a strong safety suite backed by Level 2 ADAS, it offers a compelling mix of performance, comfort, and innovation. By sharing its battery options and powertrain with the Creta EV, it ensures competitive range figures suited for both city and highway use. As Kia’s first mass-market EV in India, the Carens Clavis EV could set a strong precedent, especially for families and urban users looking for a spacious, feature-loaded electric MPV alternative to the BYD eMax 7.
