Kia Carnival comes with tons of features and techs that makes it look like it’s a house on wheels!

Kia Carnival made a return to the Indian market in October 2024, and received crazy response. The model was brought in as an SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) unit, making it significantly more pricier than one expected. Kia sold 599 units in the last three months of the year while bookings were 3000+ when launched, expectations for a stronger performance in the future as local production is planned.

The Carnival gathered 3,000+ bookings in less than 20 days since its launch on October 3rd. As a result, the MPV waiting period stretched all the way upto 1 year. October saw the first batch of the Kia Carnival reaching customers, with 255 units sold. November saw a slight decline, with 241 units delivered. December recorded the lowest sales of the year, with only 103 units, possibly due to year-end buying trends and anticipation of a more affordable locally produced version in the future.

Reasons for Kia Carnival’s Low Sales in 2024

The high pricing of the Kia Carnival was a major reason for its low sales. Since the model is not locally manufactured in India, it is being brought in as an SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) unit, significantly increasing its cost. This made it less competitive compared to rivals like the Toyota Innova Hycross and Toyota Vellfire. Kia  will begin local production of the Carnival in India in the sometime in future. This will bring prices down significantly, making the MPV more accessible to a wider audience. With local manufacturing, the Carnival is expected to gain stronger traction in the Indian market.
