Kia Sonet recorded total sales of 96,690 units in 2024, reflecting its steady presence in the competitive sub-compact SUV segment. While some months showed impressive growth, others witnessed notable declines, influenced by various market dynamics.

Monthly Sales Performance of Kia Sonet in 2024

January started on a high note with 11,530 units sold and major reason for this was Kia had launched the facelift of the SUV with big upgrade being ADAS and powered driver seat. In February saw a sharp 21.1% decline, bringing sales down to 9,102 units. The drop continued in March, with 8,750 units sold, marking a 3.9% decrease. April followed the trend, witnessing a 9.7% drop to 7,901 units. To address this, Kia added more features in the lower variants especially a sunroof and automatic climate control which could attract more buyers. Then later in the month, it achieved 4 lakh sales milestone.

May saw a marginal dip, reaching 7,433 units with a 5.9% decline. However, June experienced a strong recovery with 9,816 units, marking a 32.1% increase, making it one of the best-performing months of the year. In July, sales slightly dipped to 9,459 units, a 3.6% decrease. Guess what, Kia introduced a mid-spec GTX variant which doesn’t have ADAS, Powered Driver Seat, Air Purifer, and Bose Sound system. However, August saw improvement when Kia sold 10,073 units, a 6.5% rise.

September sales remained positive, reaching 10,335 units with a 2.6% growth. October saw a moderate decline of 6.2%, with 9,699 units sold. The downward trend continued in November, as sales dropped by 4.6% to 9,255 units. However, December saw the steepest fall, dropping to 3,337 units, marking a 63.9% decline, the sharpest of the year.

Reasons for Kia Sonet’s Sales Fluctuations

The Kia Sonet saw peak demand in June and August, likely due to new feature updates, seasonal demand, and festive offers. However, stiff competition from rivals like the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV3XO played a role in fluctuating sales. Mahindra XUV3XO launched in May 2024 introduced big features that send a notice to its competition that they aren’t playing around. The sharp decline in December could be attributed to buyers waiting for higher year-end discounts and new model launches in 2025. Consumers often postpone purchases in December to take advantage of better deals in January, impacting sales figures.
