In a major step towards faster electric vehicle (EV) adoption in India, Charge_iN by Mahindra has joined hands with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). The two companies announced a new collaboration on March 20, 2026, to set up Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) at HPCL fuel stations nationwide.

This partnership will use HPCL’s huge network of fuel outlets to build a strong EV charging setup. It aims to make charging easier for EV owners and help more people switch to electric vehicles.

Why This Partnership Matters

India is moving quickly towards green transport to cut pollution and support cleaner energy. With rising EV sales, the need for reliable and fast public charging points is growing. This tie-up comes at the right time to meet that demand.

HPCL is one of India’s top oil and gas companies. It runs more than 24,400 retail fuel outlets across the country. The company already operates over 5,400 EV charging stations under its HP e-Charge brand. By teaming up with Charge_iN, HPCL can expand its charging network even more.

Charge_iN by Mahindra is focused on building an ultra-fast charging network for electric cars. This fits with Mahindra’s goal to “UNLIMIT” electric mobility. It also supports the Indian government’s push to improve public EV charging across the country.

Key Features of the New Charging Stations

The charging stations under this partnership will use 180 kW dual-gun chargers. These are high-power chargers made for electric four-wheelers. They offer:

  • Faster charging – Less waiting time for drivers
  • More convenience – Dual guns mean two vehicles can charge at once
  • Reliable service – Better experience for long trips and daily use

These ultrafast chargers will help EV users charge quickly at familiar fuel stations, making road travel simpler.

A Big Push for Sustainable Mobility

This agreement is an important move in building a complete EV ecosystem in India. As the world’s third-largest car market, India has huge potential for electric vehicles. Partnerships like this help solve key challenges, such as “range anxiety” (worry about running out of battery).

By placing chargers at HPCL’s widespread outlets, Charge_iN can reach more cities and highways. This will speed up EV growth and support India’s clean energy goals.

Mahindra and HPCL’s collaboration shows how companies from different sectors can work together for a greener future. It promises better charging options for EV drivers and a stronger step towards sustainable transport in India.
