Mahindra is in big trouble with its XEV.9E SUV as a new rival has been spotted in India with launch taking place in coming months!

The electric vehicle space in India is gaining momentum, and new global players are entering the market with promising products. One such automaker is Vietnamese EV brand Vinfast, which plans to launch the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in India by the second half of 2025.

Vinfast VF 7 Spotted in Pune Without Camouflage

Recently, the Vinfast VF 7 electric SUV was spotted in Pune, Maharashtra. The SUV was seen being transported on a flatbed truck near the PCMC area, reportedly heading for ARAI certification. Notably, the vehicle was seen without any camouflage, indicating that it’s quite close to its homologation phase in India.

Two units of the VF 7 were captured—one in a dark green shade and the other in white. Both test models featured stylish black alloy wheels, flush door handles, and a charging port positioned on the front quarter panel.

Vinfast VF 7 India Launch Timeline on Track

These sightings hint that Vinfast is moving ahead as per its original launch schedule. With certification processes seemingly underway, the brand appears committed to a rollout in H2 2025. The units spied could represent different trims of the VF 7, which is offered in two variants globally—Eco and Plus.

Both versions get the same 75.3 kWh battery pack. The VF 7 Eco delivers a longer range of up to 450 km (WLTP), while the VF 7 Plus focuses more on performance with 431 km range (WLTP). Power output varies too – 201 bhp and 309 Nm for the Eco, and 348 bhp with 499 Nm torque for the Plus variant.

Key Specs and Features of Vinfast VF 7

The Vinfast VF 7 features a bold, futuristic design and is loaded with premium elements targeted at urban electric vehicle buyers. In terms of size, the VF 7 measures 4,545 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,635.75 mm in height. It rides on a 2,840 mm long wheelbase, positioning it firmly in the midsize electric SUV segment in India. It comes with vegan leather upholstery that adds to the cabin’s sustainable appeal, a panoramic glass roof for an airy feel, and a full LED lighting setup for modern styling and improved visibility. The SUV also gets flush door handles that enhance its sleek look, along with a smart charging interface to ensure seamless EV usability. Features-wise it’ll get Level 2 ADAS, 12.9 to 15-inches Infotainment System, ventilated seats, Dual-zone Climate Control, powered tailgate, etc.

Vinfast VF 7 to Make Strong Entry in India’s EV Space

The appearance of the VF 7 in India, along with its feature-rich package and promising specs, signals a serious entry by Vinfast into the competitive Indian EV segment. If priced aggressively, it could be a solid alternative to offerings from Tata, MG, and BYD. Vinfast is expected to launch the VF 7 and the VF 6 sometimes in the second half of 2025 and will be locally assembled in Tamil Nadu. So, expect the pricing to be in the range of Rs. 20 – 30 Lakhs.
