Mahindra two best-selling SUVs is all set to receive major facelift updates that will make it more competitive in its segment in 2026.

Two of Mahindra’s top-selling SUVs, the Thar and XUV700, are set to receive major facelifts in 2026. While the Thar was first introduced in 2020 and the XUV700 followed in 2021, both models are now due for a fresh design and updated features.

Thar Facelift to Mirror Thar Roxx Design

The upcoming Thar facelift, internally known as W515, will borrow several design elements from the Thar Roxx edition. This includes a revised front grille with double-stacked slots, new C-shaped LED lighting signatures for the headlamps and tail-lamps, updated bumpers and cladding, and redesigned alloy wheels. The cabin will also see some improvements, likely featuring a new steering wheel, relocated control buttons, and a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit. A fully digital instrument cluster and sunroof for the hard-top version are expected to be added as well.

XUV700 Facelift to Take Inspiration from BE 6 and XEV 9e

The facelifted XUV700, codenamed W616, will draw visual inspiration from Mahindra’s latest all-electric models—the BE 6 and XEV 9e. These EVs showcase a modern, sharp design language that will now influence the XUV700’s updated look. Expected changes include a new LED headlight setup with a connected light bar, a restyled grille, and more prominent cladding around the wheel arches. Interior updates are also anticipated, bringing in a more futuristic layout along with enhanced standard features across variants.

No Changes to Engine or Gearbox Options

Despite the cosmetic and feature updates, both the Thar and XUV700 facelifts will retain their existing engine and transmission combinations. The Thar will continue with its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 152hp, along with two diesel options: a 1.5-litre engine producing 117 bhp and a 2.2-litre engine making 130 bhp. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, depending on the variant. The XUV700 facelift will keep its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 197 bhp and a 2.2-litre diesel engine tuned between 152 bhp and 182 bhp based on the trim. Both engines will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Mahindra Thar, XUV700 Facelift Launch Timeline

With launch plans set for 2026, both the Mahindra Thar and XUV700 facelifts aim to strengthen the brand’s presence in their respective segments. The updated models will blend familiar mechanicals with all-new styling and added features to stay competitive.
