Ertiga Sales in India
In 2021, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,14,408 units of the Ertiga. The market was recovering post-pandemic, but supply constraints impacted overall sales. In 2022, sales increased to 1,33,814 units, marking a growth of 16.99% due to the facelift launch, updated features, and growing demand for MPVs. In 2023, sales saw a slight decline of 2.87%, with 1,29,968 units sold. The drop was mainly due to supply chain disruptions and increasing competition from rivals like the Kia Carens.
In 2024, the Ertiga registered its highest-ever annual sales, reaching 1,90,091 units with a massive 46.27% growth. The surge in demand was driven by the increasing preference for 7-seater family cars, the rising adoption of CNG models, and strong fleet sales. The Ertiga remains a popular choice for cab aggregators and commercial buyers due to its fuel efficiency and spacious interior. Its competitive pricing compared to rivals has also contributed to its continued success.
Market Availability
The Ertiga is one of the best-selling MPVs in India, with strong demand in both private and fleet segments. It is available across Nexa and Arena dealerships, with the top-spec ZXI+ trim being the most feature-packed. Apart from India, the Ertiga is also exported to markets like Indonesia, the Philippines, and South Africa.
Toyota Rumion: Rebadged Ertiga
Toyota launched a rebadged version of the Ertiga as the Toyota Rumion in India on August 28th, 2023. It features minor design changes, including a Toyota-specific grille and badging, while retaining the same engine, features, and platform as the Ertiga. Toyota offers it in four variants: S, G, V, and V AT, with both petrol and CNG options.
Both the Ertiga and Rumion continue to dominate the MPV space, catering to family buyers and fleet operators with their affordability, efficiency, and practicality.
