Maruti Jimny vs Force Gurkha – Exterior and Interior

Maruti Jimny from the outside looks like box-shape SUV. It has round shape LED headlamps with five rectangular blocks on the grille and the logo in center. The Jimny has body cladding all over the body and small LED foglamps on the hard-plastic black body at the front. It has faux silver skid plate bumper at the front. Moving to the side, it has upright pillars, with square shape windows and the extended portion behind the rear door has a large vertical glass surrounded by thick pillars. Moving to the rear, it has spare wheel mounted on the door with exposed hinges, and the taillamps are on the bumpers. The Jimny rides on the 15-inch alloy wheels.

From the outside, the Force Gurkha has round LED headlamps and Gurkha badging at the center and hard plastic big lower body and bumper and fog lamps in it. It has the triangular indicators above the headlamps same as the Mercedes G-Wagon. From the side, it has an air intake snorkel to supply air to the engines for combustion, step-up side plate to get into the car, big rectangular glass behind the rear door and it rides on 16-inch alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, it has ladder to climb and get to the roof, spare wheel mounted on the door, and halogen taillamps.

From the inside, the Jimny has a 9-inch infotainment system with a rectangular shape AC vent below and round AC vents at the sides. On the dashboard it has a grab handle to either get in the Jimny or to hold onto it when off-roading. It has three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with Analog instrument cluster and a TFT display between the analog dials. Below the auto climate controls, there are buttons for hill descent control, traction control, window control for passenger and driver, and right next to the engine start/stop there is button called headlamp washer to sprinkle some water on the headlamps. Then there is the lever for the low range transfer, and just below that is the buttons for window controls for the rear passenger. The front passenger and driver can be fully reclined as well. The rear seats are split in 60:40 ratio and it has 4-speaker Arkamy’s sound system.

As for the Force Gurkha, it has 7-inch infotainment system positioned between the round-shaped AC vents. It has four-spoke multi-function steering wheel with Analog instrument cluster and a small TFT display between the analog dials. The controls of the windows are next to the passenger seats on the right. It has no rear AC vents for the rear passenger and the windows for the rear passenger does not go down as well. There is the lever for low range transfer next to the manual handbrake. The rear seats are split in 60:40 ration and has the 4-speakers sound system.

So, from the outside and the inside, the Jimny looks good from the outside giving a bit adventurous vibe which the Gurkha does the same as well, and it’s really a preference thing, but however, from the inside, the Jimny looks better than the Gurkha as the Gurkha looks kind of outdated where as the Jimny looks little modern than the Gurkha.

When it comes to dimensions, the Jimny measures 3985mm in length, 1645mm in width, and 1720mm in height. The Gurkha measures 4116mm in length which is longer by 131mm, width of 1812mm that is 167mm wider, and height of 2075mm that is taller by 355mm. The Jimny has a wheelbase of 2590mm, ground clearance of 2400mm, whereas the Gurkha has a wheelbase of 2400mm which is shorter by 190mm, and ground clearance of 205mm which is lower by 5mm. The Jimny has a boot space of 208 litres, fuel tank of 40 litres, and kerb weight of 1,210 kg where as the Gurkha has a boot space of 500 litres which is bigger by 292 litres, fuel tank of 63 litres that is 23 litres bigger, and kerb weight of 2,050 kg that is heavier by 840 kg.

So, in Dimensions, the Gurkha is literally bigger in almost all the ways having all the space and comfort better than the Jimny has to offer.

In Engine Options, the Jimny has one petrol engine and the Force Gurkha has one diesel engine on offer. The Jimny has the 1.5-litre K15B Petrol engine that puts out 103.39 bhp and 134.2 Nm of torque paired to a 5-speed Manual and 4-speed Automatic Gearbox. The Force Gurkha on the other hand is powered by the 2.6-litre diesel engine that puts out 89.84 bhp and 250 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed Manual Gearbox.

When it comes to features, the Gurkha misses out on a lot of features such as the LED taillamps, leather-wrapped steering wheel, headlamp washer, voice control, and bigger infotainment system. The Jimny has all these features making it much better than the Force Gurkha.

In the end, the decision to buy which off-road SUV depends totally on you, however, it is recommended to buy the Maruti Jimny as it’s got much better features and safety than the Gurkha has to offer even though the Gurkha is bigger in dimensions yet Maruti Jimny has the decent space and comfort on offer and has multiple Gearbox option with good performance.
