Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV3X0, and Kia Sonet are the only models that currently offer ADAS, with the XUV3X0 being the only one to offer Level 2 ADAS.

In a surprising turn of events, the Maruti Fronx ADAS variant has been spied in India dawning the radar module just below the suzuki logo and a camera module on the top windshield indicating that it may get Level 2 ADAS for added safety of it’s occupants.

Fronx with ADAS for India or for Japan?

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for a significant upgrade to the Fronx, its popular sub-4-meter crossover based on the Baleno. Recent sightings of a test mule equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology suggest that the Indian automaker may soon introduce this feature in the domestic market. If implemented, the Fronx could join the Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue as one of the few vehicles in its segment offering advanced safety features.

Currently, the India-spec Fronx lacks ADAS—a feature available on the Japan-spec model, also manufactured at Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility. However, a recently spotted test vehicle, equipped with front-mounted ADAS and parking sensors, indicates Maruti Suzuki’s plans to enhance the Fronx’s safety profile. The camouflaged prototype featured a radar-based ADAS sensor within the front grille, potentially offering Level 2 ADAS capabilities. Additionally, front parking sensors and a camera, missing from the current India-spec Fronx, were observed on the test mule.

It’s uncertain whether this vehicle is an export model for Japan or a preview of the upcoming India-spec Fronx. However, introducing ADAS in the Indian market would mark a significant leap in safety and technology for the segment.

As of now, Maruti Suzuki does not offer ADAS in any of its Indian models. The addition of this feature in the Fronx could strengthen the brand’s position in the competitive Indian market and align with Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to offer more technologically advanced and safer vehicles.
