
The demands for vehicles is increasing over the course of time and many carmakers in India have reported double-digit year-on-year growth in May 2023 while month-on-month growth is kind-of fluctuating.

May Carmakers in the month of May 2023 performed good in sales of passenger vehicles with cumulative sales of 3,35,871 units against the 2,94,342 in May 2022 with year-on-year growth by 13.99% and volume growth by 41,189 units. The month-on-month sales improved as well by 1.21% over the April’s 2023 sales of 3,31,509 units with volume growth by 4,022 units. At No. 1 position is as always, is Maruti Suzuki in May 2023 which is 15.45% year-on-year growth over the 1,24,474 units in May 2022 with volume growth by 19,234 units. It also improved from 1,37,320 units in April 2023 with 4.65% month-on-month growth and volume growth by 6,388.
At second position, Hyundai Motors India reported 48,601 units in May 2023 over the 42,293 units in May 2022 with 14.91% year-on-year growth and volume growth by 6,308 units. However, it failed to improve it’s sales in April 2023 from 49,701 units with 2.21% month-on-month decline and decline in volume by 1,100 units. At third position is the Tata Motors with 45,878 units in May 2023 over the 43,341 units in May 2022 with 14.91% year-on-year growth and volume growth by 2,537 units. However, it reported decline in sales from 47,010 units in April 2023 with 2.41% month-on-month decline and volume de-growth by 1,132 units.
Mahindra at fourth position reported 32,886 unis in May 2023 over the 26,904 units in May 2022 with 22.23% year-on-year growth and volume growth by 5,982 units. It reported decline in sales from 34,696 units in April 2023 with 5.21% month-on-month decline and volume decline by 1,808 units. Toyota in May 2023 reported 20,410 units over the 10,216 units in May 2022 with 99.78% year-on-year growth and volume growth by 10,194 units. It also reports improved sales from April 2023’s 14,162 units with 44.12% month-on-month growth and 6,248 units is the growth in volume.
The Kia at sixth position reported 18,766 units in May 2023 against the 18,718 units in May 2022 with 0.26% year-on-year growth with volume increased by 48 units. However, the numbers does not look good when compared to April 2023 with 23,216 units as 19.17% was the month-on-month decline and 4,450 units was decline in volume. MG at 7th position through retail sales reports 5,006 units over the 4,008 units with 24.90% year-on-year growth and volume growth by 998 units. It also improved sales from 4,551 units in April 2023 with 10% month-on-month growth and volume growth by 455 units.

Honda at 8th position reports 4,660 units over the 8,188 units in May 2022 with 43.09% year-on-year decline and decline in volume by 3,528 units. The decline in sales continues as it reported 5,313 units in April 2023 with 12.29% month-on-month decline and volume de-growth by 653 units. The Renault at 9th positions suffers in sales as it reports 4,625 units in May 2023 over the 5,010 units in May 2022 with 7.68% year-on-year decline and volume de-growth by 385 units. However, the numbers are positive when compared to April 2023 from 4,323 units with 6.99% month-on-month growth and volume growth 302 units.
Skoda reports decline in sales in May 2023 with 3,547 units over the 4,604 units in May 2022 as the year-on-year decline was 22.96% and volume de-growth was 1,057 units. It still suffers in sales when compared to April 2023 with 4,009 units as the month-on-month decline was 11.52% with volume de-growth by 462 units. The Volkswagen reports negative numbers as in May 2023, it reported sales of 3,286 units over the 3,503 units with year-on-year decline by 6.19% and decline in volume by 217 units. It however reported positive growth from 3,032 units in April 2023 with 8.38% month-on-month growth and volume growth by 254 units.
Nissan in May 2023 reported 2,618 units over the 2,131 units in May 2022 with 22.85% year-on-year growth and volume growth by 487 units. It also improved from 2,617 units in April 2023 with 0.04% month-on-month growth and volume growth by just 1 unit. The Citroen reports 806 units in May 2023 from 24 units in May 2022 with 3258.33% year-on-year growth and increased by 782 units. However, it reports decline in sales from 1,003 units in April 2023 with 19.64% month-on-month decline and volume de-growth 197 units.
At last, the Jeep with May 2023 sales of 734 units over the 928 units in May 2022 with 20.91% year-on-year decline and decline in volume by 194 units. It reports improved sales from 558 units in April 2023 with 31.54% month-on-month growth and volume growth by 176 units.
