MG M9 will be the brand’s first all-electric MPV for India, and full details of its specifications, features, colour options and performance figures have now been revealed ahead of its official launch. It will be sold exclusively through MG’s premium Select showrooms, with bookings already open for Rs. 51,000.
MG M9: Exterior and Colour Options
The MG M9 is among the largest electric MPVs on offer, measuring 5,200mm in length, 2,000mm in width and 1,800mm in height, with a massive 3,200mm wheelbase. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with self-healing Continental ContiSeal tyres. The front end is defined by a bold trapezoidal grille flanked by sleek LED headlights and connected LED DRLs for a modern look. The side profile features electrically operated sliding rear doors, enhancing ease of access, while the rear is highlighted by connected LED tail lamps, a powered tailgate, integrated roof spoiler with stop lamp, and a rear wiper. MG is offering the M9 in three colour options – Metal Black, Pearl Lustre White and Concrete Grey – to suit a wide range of preferences.
MG M9: Interior & Features
The cabin of the MG M9 focuses heavily on comfort and premium appeal. It features a mix of leather and suede upholstery finished in a rich Cognac Brown shade. A 12.23-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto takes centre stage, paired with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. A JBL audio system, wireless charger, digital IRVM, single-pane sunroof, and drive modes add to the high-tech environment, while a PM 2.5 air purifier enhances in-cabin air quality. The front seats are power-adjustable and come with ventilation, heating and massage functions.
In the second row, MG has added what it calls “Presidential Seats”—two individual captain chairs with fold-out ottomans, seat ventilation, heating and massage functionality. These can be controlled via touchscreens mounted behind the front headrests. A boss mode function allows the front passenger seat to slide forward for additional rear legroom. The rear occupants also get a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and manual window blinds, while rear entertainment screens are expected to be offered as optional extras. The third row can accommodate three passengers and includes AC vents and USB-A ports. The M9 also boasts a generous 945 litres of boot space and an additional 55-litre frunk.
MG M9: Battery, Range & Performance
The India-spec MG M9 is powered by a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 240 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. This motor draws power from a large 90kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack, offering higher energy density than LFP batteries.
MG claims the M9 can deliver a driving range of up to 548 km on a full charge as per internal tests. Charging times include:
- 160kW DC Fast Charging: 0-100% in around 90 minutes
- 11kW AC Home/Office Charger: Around 10 hours for full charge
The M9 will also support Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging, offering flexibility during emergencies or outdoor use. Owners can also benefit from MG’s wide network of public chargers via the eHUB app.
MG M9 Safety Features
Safety tech on the MG M9 is comprehensive, including Level 2 ADAS capabilities, seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mounts and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA). While its Bharat NCAP crash test rating has not been revealed yet, the M9 already holds five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP.
The MG M9 promises to be a strong contender in the luxury electric MPV space in India. With top-tier comfort features, long range, advanced safety, and a commanding road presence, it is expected to be priced around Rs. 65 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival the likes of the Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival EV.
