MG Gloster against the MG Hector

Which Premium SUV of MG you should buy? MG Gloster or the MG Hector? Which one is it going to be? Well, why don’t we compare the two against each other to find out!

MG Gloster vs MG Hector – Exterior and Interior

From the front, MG Gloster has grille with three horizontal lines finished in chrome and the grille border is finished in chrome as well. It has sleek LED headlamps with slight cuts on the bonnet and LED DRLs is positioned horizontally with the bumpers finished in faux silver skid plate. Moving to the side, it has a chrome line that runs through the bottom of the window frame to form an L line, chrome door handles, step-up plate, and roof rails on the top. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, it has LED taillamps, and a little roof spoiler.

MG seems to take lessons from the BMW in design as the front of the Hector as now even bigger grille with chrome diamond-shape inserts in them with LED DRLs joining with the grille. It retains the split headlight setup from the pre-facelift of the Hector, and as you can see at the bottom of the grille, there is the radar for the ADAS. The side has no change in look as it gets the same 18-inch alloy wheels. Moving to the rear side, MG has added a light bar that connects the taillamps with ADAS badging below the taillamps. The bumpers both at the front and the rear is finished in faux silver skid plate.

The MG Gloster on the other hand has a 12.21-inch infotainment system placed above the thinner rectangular AC vents with controls for the climate control below. It has the dual-tone dashboard theme option as well. The Gloster has a four-spoke multi-function steering wheel with a digital instrument cluster, push start/stop engine button is positioned on the left side near the infotainment system, and a huge panoramic sunroof. Around the gear lever, it has buttons for ventilated and heated seats for driver, and ventilated seats for passenger, hill descent control, traction control, idle stop/start control, self-park, electronic differential lock, lane keep assist, electric parking brake with auto hold function, and round dial for drive modes. The second row gets captain seats with two cupholders in the left captain seats, and some storage space in the right captain seats. The third row is good for adults and children for city travels, however for longer distances, the third row is good for children only and not for adults. Lastly, the Gloster has 12-speaker sound system.

Now, the MG Hector, it has a very clean look as it has eliminated buttons from the dashboard and everything is operated from the 14-inch vertically positioned infotainment system. It has huge AC vents in horizontal position and also has dual-tone theme dashboard option. The Hector has it’s classic looking three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with full digital instrument cluster with a huge panoramic sunroof and button for the engine start/stop is positioned on the left side near the infotainment system. The gear lever looks similar to the Creta, with metal finish buttons before the gear level for the drive modes and other thing. The seats at the rear has 60:40 split.

So, from the outside, the MG Gloster looks great than the MG Hector as the exterior of the Hector is kind of polarizing and depends on the people whether they like it or not. From the inside, the Gloster feels and looks very spacious and luxurious while the Hector feels premium but not luxurious.
