For the brand, MG Hector has been raking up big sales. But the automaker has revamped the SUV with fresh features and a new look in order to keep it current. Watch how the new Hector performs in the Harrier matchup
DIMENSIONS
The new Hector has the same amount of room as the outgoing model, which results in dimensions of 4,655 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width, 1,760 mm in height, and 2,750 mm in wheelbase. The Harrier has a wheelbase that is 2,741 mm longer, 1,894 mm wider, and 1,706 mm taller than this. Regarding the boot, the Hector maintains its advantage with a roomy 587 litres of boot space compared to the Harrier’s 425 litres of luggage space.

FEATURES
The Hector clearly outperforms the Harrier in this particular area. The SUV receives a revised 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with I Smart that allows “industry-first” Hinglish spoken commands. The SUV also comes with heated and ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, a voice-activated dual-pane sunroof, a semi-digital instrument panel, a motorized tailgate, automatic air conditioning, a push-button start system, rear AC vents, etc.
Contrarily, the Harrier comes equipped with features like an 8.8-inch infotainment system that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument panel with a seven-inch multi-information display (MID), automatic air conditioning, a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps, a 6-way powered driver seat, a JBL sound system, push-button start/stop, etc.
ENGINE
Diesel and gasoline engines are choices for the MG Hector makeover. The 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine has 250 Nm of torque and 141 horsepower, and it may be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic transmission. This engine can also be used in conjunction with a 48-Volt mild hybrid system, but only when paired with a manual transmission. The diesel version of the MG Hector is powered by a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine. Only a six-speed manual transmission is compatible with this engine, which has 168 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.
The 2.0-liter diesel engine in the Tata Harrier, in contrast, is BS 6-compliant and produces 168 horsepower and 350 Nm of maximum torque.

The price of the new Hector with a petrol engine ranges from 12.9 lakh to 18 lakh. On the other hand, the hybrid model’s price ranges from $14.4 lakh to $17 lakh. However, the cost of the MG Hector diesel model ranges from 14.21 lakh to 18.33 lakh. Everything is priced ex-showroom in India. In contrast, the automated model of the Tata Harrier MT costs between $16.4 lakh and $20.3 lakh in India, with the manual model costing between 13.84 lakh and 19.1 lakh.
