MG’s Windsor EV quickly become India’s favourite car beating likes of Mahindra XUV400, and Tata Nexon EV!
The MG Windsor EV has quickly rise to top as India’s best-selling electric vehicle, surpassing competitors like the Tata Nexon EV. Here are several key factors that contributed to its rise:
Competitive Pricing and Battery Rental Model
Priced between Rs. 13.99 lakh and Rs. 15.5 lakh, the Windsor EV offers a compelling value proposition. Its innovative “Battery as a Service” (BaaS) model reduces the initial purchase cost to Rs. 9.99 – 11.99 Lakh. This allows customers to rent the battery, pay based on usage. This approach makes electric mobility more accessible to a broader audience.
Spacious and Comfortable Interior
The Windsor EV measures 4295mm in length with 2700mm wheelbase, that surpass its rivals, providing a more spacious cabin. Features like “aero lounge seats” with a 135-degree recline enhance passenger comfort, making it an attractive choice for families and long-distance travelers.
Efficient Powertrain and Range
Powered by a 38kWh LFP battery, the Windsor EV delivers 134 bhp and 200Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 331km on a single charge. This performance gives confidence in potential buyers who are concerned about range anxiety
High on Features
Equipped with a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting with 256 Colours Options, wireless charging, front ventilated seats, 360 Camera, One Touch Up/Down for All Windows, Electronic Parking Brake; appealing to tech-savvy consumers.
Strong Sales Performance
Since its launch in September 2024, the Windsor EV has consistently led EV sales charts. In its first month, it sold 3,116 units which upon comparison with Nexon EV is 95.60% more. By December, Windsor EV was outselling Nexon EV by 136.12% which translates to 2,182 units. Cumulative sales by December reached 10,045 units, accounting for 49% of JSW MG Motor India’s total passenger vehicle sales in that quarter. This just goes to show how MG captured the Indian Audience with WIndsor EV.
In the end, MG’s strategy to offer Windsor EVs as part of “BaaS” highlights affordability, a spacious design, and advanced features at competitive prices, contributing to strong sales performance that has solidified its position as a leading electric vehicle brand in India.
